Such a fun juxtaposed familiarity. Although it's hard to believe her Dad would use the endearment moppet, or that any of the Eagans would consider fetid a particularly cutting gibe their own.

Helena's contribution was more earnest incompetence, while Kier/Lumen/Dad have been portrayed as fetid by the show. Still a sweet turn of phrase.

This show is sooooo damn good.

Just absolutely next level.

And yeah, I was not at all expecting reintegration in episode freaking three.

I steer away from the recaps in general, so I don't know if this has been covered, but did anyone notice that the way they did the outside shot Corbel's car in the very beginning when she was parked on the side of the road and woke up looked like a model? I can't open Apple TV on my computer, and my phone won't take the screen shot, but it's at the 2:44 mark. Very odd. Reminds me of the way the intro is animated.

I know I'm playing w fire... watched S1 last year, convinced Mrs Rononeill she needs to watch it because S2 is going to be an important part of our household this spring, so right now we're on S1E6 and are banking S2 eps. I skim this thread on Fridays with only one eye open just to glean reactions and avoid plot points- and man, I'm stoked!

Did anyone else think Gwendolyn's eyes were TOO blue? Like she had colored contacts in?

Reminded me of the same blue color eyes in the paintings they gifted to Milchik. Which I'm assuming, OG Eagan had.

I avoid them too. It's fun talking about the episode with other people who are watching. But now a lot of those people just watch the YouTube videos people make so almost have to just skip that too

LOST really changed the game when it hit the scene. But for me, it fell flat in its almost formulaic approach to building mystery, then answering some questions by revealing an even bigger mystery, often with a cliffhanger. And a lot of shows seem to follow this model.

Severance seems to have a better approach to mixing up how they continue to build mystique and satisfying the viewer's curiosity along the way.

I was really surprised that Mark reintegrated this early in the season. It seems like something most writers would save until later in the season as they build up to the climax. This breaking away from the formula makes the show more unpredictable to me.

Overall, great episode. I really hope they stick the landing. This show has the potential to be one of the all-time greats.

I genuinely do not understand what people like this want from a TV show. The comfortable rhythms of a broadcast procedural? A generic, straightforward action show? Reality TV?

I get that Severance is, on the surface, "weird," but how can you not at least recognize or appreciate such great characters, storytelling, mystery, etc?

Also, how do you make it THIS far into the series, yet it's somehow the second appearance of goats that finally makes you tap out?

I obviously know who she is, but Mark looks to be practicing next to some random building on the outskirts of town, when Reghabi shows up out of now where, with no seemingly no explanation as to how she knew he was there. I had the same thought myself. Seemed like a plot convenient thing for her to pop up, so I just went with it.

What took me out was Eminence Front over the final scene. As a Mavs fan, I kept waiting for Diiiiiiiiiiirrkkkk Nowitzki to show up while the song played.

I think you're probably right, seeing as I just watched two episode recaps and neither even addressed it, much less had an explanation for it. The only insight I gathered is that it's been just a few days since Mark last saw her, while it feels like forever for us. So she's likely still keeping tabs on him, and waited until he was away from home/completely alone before she approached him again.

Since she is on a mission to reintegrate people/bring down Lumon, I think she would be following Mark around since he is the best candidate for what she wants. Plus it seems like it is a small town so probably not that hard to do.

Dammit. I need next weeks episode like I need air to breathe.
