The writers have done such an incredible job with this show. You definitely get the sense that every detail, word choice, visual element, etc. was intentional and is relevant to furthering the narrative.

This'll be the stuff that kids are learning about in English class in 200 years time.

No theories on how Burt knew about Irv? Did Irv actually talk to Burt at the end of last season? Has Outie Burt been searching for Irv? Something about love transcending the two minds?

I said the same thing… in an episode with a lot to talk about this one kinda flew under the radar. How is that connection possible in this world? The love thing?

My problem with it being Helena on the severed floor is a couple thing around her answer to what they saw when they woke up.

1. It just appeared as though she was making it up on the spot. Helena would have rehearsed her answer

2. A freaking gardener at night. That just screams innie not really understanding the ways of the world.

3. She made a point of including that she told someone about how awful it was and the gardeners relation to a cop. This implies she knew what they had all agreed to do when they got out and tried to make sure the others at least thought she did her part. Maybe Helena would have guessed that was the objective but it's a stretch.

Also a lot on the side of it being Helena but the answer didn't seem to make sense.

So what do y'all think the new Hall Pass incentive is? I guess it could literally just be a hall pass allowing innies to make sanctioned visits to other departments or would they actually allow an innie time outside as a reward?

It's probably a sign that I have a dirty mind, but my first thought was that it was a reference to the Hall Pass movie, and they were saying it would be cool if Innie's hooked up.

Solid recap with some good theories I hadn't seen before.

Just knocked that one out, which is definitely interesting, but then I followed it up with the one below, and I would argue it dives even deeper, is more comprehensive, and presents some pretty big theories for the show as a whole that feel so incredibly spot on, at least at this stage. I highly recommend giving it a watch as well…

Either way, I love having a show again that begs this kind of exploration. It feels very Lost-ish in that regard, and I can't wait to watch these recaps every week/discuss theories here in the thread over the next nine episodes.

Great listen, after which I'm convinced it's Helena and not Helly, while they also bring up an interesting theory that Ms. Huang could maybe be the daughter of Mark and Gemma…

I believe it's innie Helly, but I think they woke her up and threatened her in between her speech at the end of season 1 and first appearance in season 2. That's why she was running out of the elevator when she appeared.

I find it interesting that that Milchick had the opportunity to fire all of them, but recruited Mark Scout back pretty hard, multiple times. I know there's the connection between Mark, his wife, & Cold Harbor, but aren't all of the refiners working on the same project? Innie Mark causes a lot of trouble for Milchick.

Lying to Mark about how long he was out and that his outie begged to come back is interesting. Also, some poor graphic designer was working overtime to develop that animated training video over the weekend.

1. I didn't get that impression at all. Either way, Helena would have hardly had any time to prepare, as it wasn't a big, premeditated plan. If it is Helena, she made the decision only the day prior, if not as late as that morning.

2. She wasn't thinking about it being night. That, and super rich Helena would absolutely have grown up with a gardener, think gardeners are common, possibly had ones that even worked at night, etc.

3. I don't quite follow what you're saying, but ultimately it doesn't matter because I will bet you any amount of money it's Helena down there, whatever logic be damned. It's what's best dramatically for the story and the writers aren't going to pass that up. Not to mention, Helena sees in Mark a freedom and a spark she doesn't have in her own life. That was the whole point of her watching the kiss on the security footage over and over, and then creepily watching him arrive to work, ultimately spurring her to make the decision to go rogue and pose as Helly.

It was heavily implied that Mark is the key to Cold Harbor. As in, for whatever reason, it can't be finished without him specifically.

When they were making the plan to activate the OTC in the first place in S1 they all agreed they would find someone on the outside and tell them about how awful it was. Helly/Helena made a point of adding that part in about telling the gardener after the story of waking up in sweatpants or whatever. Just felt like she was trying to make sure they knew she did what they had agreed to. Helena would not have known what they talked about before hand.

I am torn right now. At times it certainly seems like Helena, but when she and Mark are walking through the hall in episode 1, she very forcibly says they are not the same as their outies. The way she says it, it's like she's disgusted by her outie. That makes me think it could be Helly.

Helena clearly has access to all security footage, and they made a point of implying that Lumon was recording them at all times. Helena could have easily found/eventually listened in on that convo after the fact. Otherwise, she could have just stumbled into the gardener thing. Did she actually say the plan in that scene or did she simply happen to mention the gardener? I can't remember.

Helena is just as disgusted by her innie, and the idea of innies period. She literally sees them as subhuman. It works both ways.

She did but I felt like they were making the point that was changing. In the extra footage she says Helena is a bit jealous of Helena and ability to just be herself (paraphrasing). Clearly the response she recorded to the resignation request fits with the subhuman feelings but I think she is changing.

I think the end goal of that plot line could be Helena deciding she would rather be Helly.

Exactly. I guess what I'm saying is I think that's already happened. Helena is now trying to live Helly's life, is fascinated by Mark, wants either a fling or more with him, etc. Helena has always seen innies as subhuman but the great irony is that she's now starting to secretly find Helly's life more interesting/freeing than her own. It would also be a nice twist on the severance conceit. Whereas most people join the severance program to escape/detach, Helena is using it to live a more engaging/exciting life, which would be such genius writing.

Just to talk about the show the security footage thing is interesting. It seems they were monitoring them close but have surprisingly few people helping in the process. I guess we are to believe that the process was so smooth for so long it wasn't felt to be necessary. Either way the innies did a lot of sneaking around without being noticed and the Lumin team definitely wasn't aware ahead of time the plan to use the OTC.

She definitely did not specifically mention the plan. Just added at the end that she went outside, found a gardener and that the gardener had a BIL (or something) that was a cop and would relay the info.

I hated this show at first. Far too slow of a burn for my tastes but you numskulls kept pulling back to periodically pick it up again.

The hook finally set about 1/2 way into season 1 and last night I completed season 1. Damn I love this show now! Looking forward to season 2 but I may let a few more episodes drop so I can enjoy a binge one night.

I don't think Outtie Burt knew about Irv before Irv was banging on his door. Outtie Irv would have been standing at Outtie Burt's door when Dylan gets tackled during the OTC switch. So presumably Outtie Irv and Outtie Burt talked and Outtie Burt would've said something about Irv banging on his door yelling his name. Maybe Outtie Irv then explains that he just woke up and they figure out that Innie Irv was the one banging on Burt's door. This then causes Outtie Burt to be suspicious/intrigued/confused of Irv and start following him.

Wondering what the deal was with all the pineapples? Unlike most fruits that rely on seeds for reproduction, pineapples propagate asexually through crowns, slips, or suckers, creating genetically identical clones of the parent plant. This process bypasses genetic mixing, ensuring consistency across generations. Unlike seeded fruits, pineapples don't rely on pollination to produce viable offspring, making them unique in their ability to replicate without sexual reproduction.

What do pineapples look like when they are grown?
