Welp, there goes the theory about Helena being down there.

Wonder what the Cold Harbor thing is?

I dunno, does that really put that issue to bed. Helena is high up enough to disable her implant, and likely without anyone else knowing.

You know what, I started typing out the reasons why this wouldn't be the case. But - that segment where she kept replaying the kiss with Mark S. Her taped confession where at the end she looked exhausted. Her strange dynamic with her dad where he was impersonal and happy before her speech and then gave that aggressive and weird insult after.

They also had the whole Petey storyline that didn't really payoff in season one, especially with that woman who Mark met once and was never seen again. Maybe there really is something to that. (I haven't gone on the subreddit after this episode, so apologies if this has been discussed over there)

Great episode. A theory that my wife had after S1 that i think is still in play is that Irving joined Lumen to try and figure out what's going on/take them down from the inside.

He had the list of severed employees and his sneaking around certainly makes him suspicious.

I don't know if y'all noticed but in the scene where all of the outies are going back to the severed floor the elevator dings, implying that their innie has taken over. This happened for Mark, Dylan, and Irv. However, the ding never played for when Helena went to the severed floor. And her outie was very intrigued by the kiss her innie and Mark shared. I think that episode tied to lead us to the fact it's Helly and not Helena on the severed floor but it could be a misdirect. I think the theory that it's Helena down there is still alive

Man. I'm so glad they fleshed out both sides of OTC and gave that its poper weight! Feel like shows sometimes gloss over something like that.

Do the intros change every episode?

Like where they are going with Devon character. Like that actress. Dylan G is good for several laughs an episode. The interview was fantastic. Door prize.

Lol @ Lumon and their damn literal fruit baskets.

Who was Irv chattin up on the payphone? Hmmm

Gonna Frolic this weekend

The behind the scenes after the credits did mention Helena is likely jealous of how free Helly R looked in the video playback with Mark

This.

They never showed her "transitioning" on the elevator and we never heard the ding.

It's absolutely Helena on the severed floor, I'd bet damn near anything.

From a writing standpoint, having it be Helena maximizes the drama/tension/surprise element so much more than if it were Helly. And because this show is so incredibly well written, I'd be shocked if they chose to squelch that opportunity.

But yeah, big picture, this show is now well on its way to being the best "mystery box" series since Lost. And sure, Lost may have had more emotion, but what Severance lacks in that category it more than makes up for it in mind-****ery and the filmmaking, the latter of which is just impeccable. Every last shot feels so considered, and the world so incredibly distinct. If anything, it's easily the best-looking show on TV. Good thing it excels at literally everything else as well.

I had plans tonight and wasn't able to watch until after midnight, but I'm already jealous I wasn't able to start it the second it dropped. It really is turning into appointment viewing on the dot.

So I think the theory that Cold Harbor is the project related to sorting Gemma/Ms. Casey's consciousness/memory is going to be correct. I think they need Mark specifically because of his closeness with Gemma and his ability to properly categorize the numbers, which somehow represent Gemma's memories or consciousness. On the screen we see the name Cold Harbor for Gemma's file.

The buckets at the bottom the file are for Woe, Frolic, Dread, and Malice. And the numbers get sorted into these buckets.

This is all in an effort to eventually resurrect Kier and make him immortal.

Way too obvious helly is Helena, only thing that gives pause is they made it so obvious. No cameras/mics bc Helena is there. Only info she didn't get is Irv's info about Burt, which is an odd part of the story that I have no doubt will somehow be important. What happened to make Irv come back when he was determined to leave?

They're not gonna keep the same main narrative for another season with the gang vs lumen.

Bet Helena develops a thing for innie Mark. All kinds of juice there between Mark innie outtie, Casey, Helena, and the Eagans.

Seems too obvious to be the case but betting on this now including the Mark/Mark Helly/Helena Casey/Gemma love triangle.

Another tip off was Irv and Dylan were wanded by the security guard in the front while Helena was wanded with her back to the guard. Her body language also told the story.

Didn't the big Lumon dude that's following them around have "frolic" tattooed on him?

Where does the theory for the name of the buckets at the bottom even come from? Was that shown on the show somewhere and I missed it? Or is this a "theory" that's really a spoiler?

They are the four tempers according to the Kier Eagan recording in the perpetuity room.

  • "I know that death is near upon me because people have begun to ask what I see as my life's great achievement. They wish to know how they should remember me as I rot. In my life I have identified 4 components which I call tempers from which I derived every human soul. Woe. Frolic. Dread. Malice. Each man's character is defined by the precise ratio that resides in him. I walked into the cave of my own mind and there I tamed them. Should you tame the tempers as I did mine, then the world shall become but your appendage. It is this great and consecrated power that I hope to pass on to all of you… my children." - Kier Eagan (Perpetuity Room Recording)

Gotcha, and this is from some of the online materials? I only rewatched the last 3 episodes of S1, so I don't remember if it was covered earlier in the season.

It is in the Lexington Letter, but also from Season 1, Episode 3. I can't find a clip of the actual quote, but these guys are discussing the four tempers as heard in the recording.
