I think what Sanderson is doing right now is incredible. I really can't think of another author who has attempted something like this with multiple different series being all interconnected, besides Stephen King.

I much prefer Sanderson though.

Let me introduce you to my friend Raymond E. Feist. His Riftwar Saga is 10 complete series with different characters, timelines, settings, and even scale. Some are focused on young teenagers and their plights as they discover the harsh world around them to entire species involved in planet ending (literal) wars. His series can be treated as standalones in their own regard but all tie into and contribute to the overall arc as well. It is always building. Until the last 2 or 3 series in which he starts to culminate everything into the grand finale.

I am a fan, case you haven't noticed.

The order listed in that wiki entry… is that the reading order as well? I tried out shadow of a dark queen years ago, probably not long after it came out and didn't get into it. I'm willing to give it another shot but looking for beginning to end reading advice.

It is. Chrono = story order. Which is nice.

Also cool to see how it evolves over the 25 or so years it took to complete. Kinda follows the progression of fantasy in general overall in that time frame.

To be completely fair, according to Sanderson Yumi is one of the most invested entities in the cosmere

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like I have plenty to keep me occupied from his works.

I recently picked up The Belgariad and rereading those. Way of Kings may be next unless I finish off The Mallorean. Maybe the others by Eddings too. Been along time since I've read any of them.

Used to love Eddings but can't bring myself to read a page of his anymore

Absolute best book series I've ever read. I get pissed because so few people have read it that I can't talk about it with anyone

It's an investment, I think somewhere around 24,000 pages all told? But the deepest and widest universe I've seen, and character development like none other

I just bought it, I've had it on my list for awhile. Idk when I'll start it, when I get into a series I neglect all my other hobbies and I don't want to backslide on my guitar learning again

Sanderson also signs up to 4 books or so when he does his release book tours, so you can always get the signed then.

Finished SP4(Sunlit Man)-Had a pretty fun time guessing who nomad was, I totally had it pinned to Sigzel when he mentioned Bridge 4, that he was a scholar, and when he thought he saw Kaladin(who turned out to be Hoid). When did ya'll figure it out? Regarding the meme it's hard to feel empathy towards the Scadrians since they willingly dealt with the Cinder king, sounds like the death brigade deals with them..

Just finished Sunlit Man. Apparently it is set in the far future where the Rosharian, Scadrians and others are space travels and having interstellar wars? And they all want the Dawnshards as part of some galactic arms race? I only read the books and short stories, and I don't follow any of his interviews and other messaging. So I'm completely lost

Yes. If you have read Wax and Wayne, the intergalactic cold wars have already started and the secret societies like the Ghostbloods have already started influencing different societies. Between Stormlight and Wax and Wayne, we have seen the following interplanetary societies:
Ghostbloods
Sons of Honor (technically)
17th shard
Silverlight academy
Ire
Sleepless
Selians
Kandra

The secret projects have shown appearances from the Rosharan, Threnodites, Nathians, Selians, and Scadrians interacting on other worlds.

Sanderson obviously was very vague with what is going on in the cosmere in SP4, but expect to get more info on this in the later books set in the back half of Stormlight, the last two trilogies of Scadrial, the last two Elantris books, and then I'm assuming it all gets wrapped up in the Yolen series.

You joke, but I sort of did that after my first re-read through of the cosmere. With anything Sanderson, I typically read it first with no references, then go back through on a re-read with the Coppermind as a guide and watch all the crazy hints that he infers in the text.

You can also set up the Coppermind with spoiler protection and it should only give you results from the books you have read so far.
