Because he asked for 100k. He did his job getting the bail set so technically he could kill Saul and have his dudes deliver the money. Just spitballing. Why would Salamanca's men want to rob Salamanca money?

I liked the episode, but was expecting something more after all the hype. We got 20 minutes of badass TV, then 40+ of Mike and Saul stuck in the desert and Saul drinking his own piss

Except it was only 10 mins of badass TV. Two awesome scenes and Gilligan stretching one his aweeome time lapse montages into an entire episode.

It was a good episode but left me underwhelmed.

Jimmy did not want to wrap up in that "Chuck Blanket". Fitting that he used it to get the attention of the hit man.

He told you why he didn't want his own men delivering the money.

When Lalo walked in the room with Kim I paused it just to absorb the oh s*** moment it was. Literally probably the worst thing she could've done.

I took it as guys from within the Salamanca crew trying to rip Lalo off.

People got expectations up after some posts about how amazing it might be. Honestly once I saw that I left the thread til after the episode for just that reason. Nothing against those providing the info, I just wanted to watch with no added expectations.

I think Gilligan wanted this one because it sets the path for all the characters, it's central to the series and he wanted to get it right. For me it was great.

This. They knew $7 mill was walking out of the compound and saw an opportunity to get it. Ot it's at least a mole in the Salamanca crew working with another part of the cartel (neither Gus nor Salamanca) to rip them off

Yeah. agree.

Not too impressed with the Cousins being tailed. Didn't seem right.

Possibly not tailed as much as being familiar with the location

As a BB and BCS fan I get it.... This episode fits into the mold. But being as we only have 2 episodes left this season.... I was disappointed in a 45 minute long scene of desert hiking
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

I see this is quickly becoming the "Fly" of BCS. (Which I happened to have also enjoyed, fwiw.)

Gotta love the grammar police.

Also forgot this is TexAgs where any opinion that goes against the group is chastised beyond reason.

Again...I liked it but don't think it lived up to the hype.

Pretty sure Mike knows who those guys are. After he killed them he pulled the guys shirt down a little bit and noticed a tat on one of the dudes.

Same here originally, but definitely could see Lalo getting pissed that Jimmy asked him for 100k as a previous poster mentioned. Though, that's peanuts compared to $7m.

Loved this episode, by far my favorite of this season. Seeing all of Mike's survival tricks/knowledge was great.

Although I enjoyed watching his tricks, it seemed out of character to me.

He's a former cop/hitman with experience and training in dealing with criminals. He's not a Navy Seal or wilderness survival expert. I doubt he often traversed the desert or collected dew in a canteen while working as a detective in Philly.

I thought in one of the early episode of the show, Mike hints at being a marine sniper when talking sniper rifles with the arms dealer.

Saul's pee being in the Davis & Main thermos was pretty humorous

A lot of the time lapse scenes reminded me of the episode of the Simpson's where homer eats the pepper, gets hallucinations and wanders the desert meeting Johnny Cash the coyote along the way

Who are those thieves? How are they connected to the Salamancas?
They are cartel-adjacent. In the teaser, you see the middle-aged gentleman who seems to be in charge of "Salamanca treasure cave" as we called it that warehouse filled with exotic cars and then thousands of pounds of cash and the counting room and all that. He seems to be in charge of the facility, and at the end of that teaser seems to be ratting out the cousins. To who, Peter, Gordon and the writers know but I don't think we have established that yet for the audience.

The guy making the phone call and having the money stolen seemed to show that there is division within the Salamanca camp. It wasn't a directive from the top, it was that guy & his men going rogue. Perhaps even trying to start a coupe. Of course, Mike squashed that plan and they will be rooted out by the Slamancas promptly.

For those of you complaining about the episode being 15 minutes of awesome (shootout) and 45 minutes of boring (2 guys in the desert) are completely wrong.

It was a bottle episode...or at least 2/3 of it was. Cars exploding and special effects are expensive. To balance that out financially with the budget, they have to film a bunch of stuff with only a couple of characters and no scene changes.

I think we all know what a bottle episode is, we just aren't used to seeing them this way. It was actually quite brilliant.

I was like Mike when Saul started dragging the bags. "That ain't gonna work".

Loved the cactus thorn in the shoe.

Also sets up the whole WTF when the court counts out $7MM in cash for bail.

We all knew his car was gonna give out in that remote area, just didn't think it was going to be from being shot up.

I think why some people, including myself, were underwhelmed was the hype that surround it. "Must see live" was what was touted. I didn't watch it live but watched right after to zip through commercials. While it was still good TV, nothing stood out as a reason to watch it live.
If you are watching BCS for the pew pew this wouldn't have been be the first episode to dissappoint you.

So how is this going to play out? Specifically, how is Saul going to explain to Lalo that he survived, took out 8 machine-gun-toting bad guys, and walked with 7 million through the desert over 24 hours after his car broke down?! Any explanation that doesn't include he was helped is going to be hard to believe.
