Crazy to think, when filming started, it was originally slated to come out next month. Then October. And now March '22.

June would have been awesome since Batman movies traditionally have come out in June (sometimes July).

October would have been awesome because of the overall vibe of the movie.

I don't want them to move it even further out..

Exactly. Both June and October were perfect in their own ways. March feels like this weird no-man's land. But yeah, I definitely don't want them to push it back even further, and summer '22 is already filling up, so I don't think they can if they wanted to at this point.

Not entirely movie related, but I was able to pick up the first Silver Age comic appearance of The Riddler today in anticipation of The Batman for my birthday/Father's Day



Fun fact: this comic is also the inspiration for the pilot episode of the Batman (1966) tv show.

DC is doing a Batman 89 comics project. Basically releasing a take on what would have been Burton's Batman 3, with Billy Dee as Two Face and Marlon Wayans as Robin. Looks cool. Some art at this link.

They're also doing a Superman '78 project as well.

I believe the Batman '89 book is actually written by the guy who did the screenplay for the movie.

Rumor that there was a test screening for The Batman yesterday.

According to the rumor: this cut was three hours long, got rave reviews, and is vastly different than any other Batman we've seen on screen thus far.

If true, looks like this movie will be at least 2 1/2 hours.

As long as it makes sense I don't understand why studios always push to cut it down and rush things sometimes. People show up for a good movie either way.

Shorter movie means you get more show times and sell more tickets. Big reason they wanted Justice League to be only two hours.

Meant to look into this a couple days ago, but I finally dug around and, if true, it sounds incredible. Multiple references to it being not only "very dark" but basically a horror movie as well. "Graphic" and "terrifying" were also apparently thrown around. We've had campy Batman, gothic/kitsch Batman, real-world/action Batman, and ultra-cinematic Snyder Batman (for lack of a better term), but we've never had straight up horror Batman, and I am so here for it.

I never watched the Fox show either but it looked campy/networky as hell. I imagine the shows in the Reeves/Pattinson-verse are going to be way more serious and gritty and HBO-esque. Different enough that this new Gotham PD one will feel like a completely new thing - almost like The Wire of the Batman universe or something along those lines. Plus, it stars Jeffrey Wright (as Gordon), which is reason enough for its existence. Love that dude.

It may have started out that way but it definitely went way off the rails and it's its own thing.

As TCTTS said, it's set in The Batman universe with Wright as Gordon. Worth the price of admission right there.

For multi-million-dollar properties made by billion-dollar companies, it's always hilarious to me how sh*tty some studio offices/editing bays can look. Granted, some are extremely nice, and can look quite state-of-art, but I find it so funny that a freaking Batman movie is being edited in some old, tiny room with yellow walls, mismatched ceiling tiles, and crap all over the desk…
