Exactly. I don't even really think of this as a "DC movie." It's a Matt Reeves movie. And Reeves is always nails. He's one of the best filmmakers around. I have absolutely no doubt he knocks this out of the park. Frankly, I don't get how anyone can watch the trailer and not get excited. It looks so damn good. I totally get the Snyder fatigue for sure (and his influence on the other properties), but this is basically the opposite of that.

Had a lot to do with Suicide Squad. I'll give you WW84, but Shazam was really good, Aquaman was very successful, as was Joker (which wasn't DCEU).

I had no interest in another Batman iteration, but dammit if this trailer doesn't kick ass and pull me in.

At this point, I view the MCU as one cohesive unit that I need to build upon itself. But the DCU? Nah, I view them like comic books, i.e. just random variant "issues" with individual artist and writers putting their own spin on familiar characters. Some appeal to me, some don't. No need to let the bad taste in my mouth from one of them affect my desire to see the next one that comes out.

And that trailer was only with 25% of the movie filmed so far.

Also fun fact, the kid who seems like he's crying with the face paint from the trailer is going to be Tim Drake/Robin in season 3 of Titans on HBO Max.

Batman v. Superman is a great film.

Snyder's films are superior - clearly superior - to ALL of Marvel's cape crap. I've posted many details of this over the years, which you can find in my archives.

Well I don't know about "great" but I have been on record as saying that BvS is an entertaining movie.

ZS blends Nolan storytelling (a "first contact" story with character arc reminiscent of Dark Knight movies - it shares an interest in the symbolic value of heroism) with a wonderful visual dynamism.

ZS adds emotional heft and internal conflict. Some of the best scenes are quiet character moments, like when Clark goes to a church and asks a priest for advice, and is advised to take a leap of faith. Clark comes off as a MULTI-dimensional character who faces real choices and consequences, not a cartoon with "funny" quips.

Fight scenes have a sense of dramatic stakes, like the good guys are having a tough time and could plausibly lose (which makes it cathartic when they win, something MCU movies NEVER have).

This is a story, not a theme park ride. GOOD.

The action is amazing, with some of the greatest fights between superpowered beings ever shot.

IMO Snyder makes the speed and intensity a little disorienting, and gives you a sense of how scary it would be to be anywhere near a fight between people who can plow through skyscrapers and tanker trucks without a bruise and melt steel beams in seconds with a hard stare.

Not even the Hulk fights in the MCU come anywhere close to conveying so much sheer power. Not close at all.

ZS is NOT "devoted" to the source material, if anything Nolan and Snyder show a remarkable willingness to take liberties with an iconic character for the sake of lifting a good story out of the nerd dross. Again - GOOD.

When Jonathan Kent tells Clark he may sometimes need to let people die rather than reveal himself because his true nature is so momentous and earthshaking, you realize this isn't any version of the story you've heard before.

It has an original creative vision to it. This is also what made Ben A. so good in BvS, he's a cynical old vigilante who uses guns and kills people and ect., which also means he's NOT a predictable cliche.

ZS and Nolan are good directors who break the mold around these overexposed characters and find ways to surprise me. The characters are not LOL machines.

I'm honestly amazed anyone could prefer the climax of Avengers, in which the heroes drop quips and goof around and show off their powers against faceless whomevers.

Man is Steel is the best superhero movie.

Q: how does the media, government, and Batman react to this world-shaking development? Of identity? That's a great story.

I don't think BvS accomplishes its story as well as Man of Steel, but the parts that center around Superman are very good, with Congress calling him in and Superman complying for much the same reason he puts on handcuffs in Man of Steel....which is one of the best symbolic images of the character anyone has ever dreamed up.

Superman's actual handcuffs are created by his stepfather, who psychologically conditions him to wear them every moment of his life, but Superman as Kryptonian is the opposite of that.

Kal-El is simultaneously wearing handcuffs and not wearing them, and that is the central conflict of the character....ignoring that conflict is ignoring the only story worth telling about him.

So - Man of Steel works. Well. Much better than any Marvel.

I just watched all of Titans, and it is so bad but I was so bored I watched it anyways.

Darker show which is nice, but damn if the story isn't absolutely terrible.

I'm betting we get another teaser trailer this summer, a final trailer for the holidays, and then the movie itself will be here before we know it.

Starting to get the slightest hint of an H.R. Giger/Alien vibe from that suit, which is cool a thought. It's definitely growing on me.

Where exactly do you see pseudo-sexual imagery in that suit?

Looks a bit evocative of the Kryptonian suits in Man of Steel.

These are from a BTS video that is going around right now, and Reeves talks about she isn't the Catwoman we know yet.

Ever since Batman '89, I've always loved the marketing materials for any and all Batman films. Makes this iteration feel more real, while hitting that nostalgia button just right.

Thanks for posting.

Yeah it definitely just hits different.

I'm just hoping the box office run isn't cut short by the Doctor Strange movie since it comes out just three weeks later. Normally I wouldn't be concerned, but with that movie being crossover and cameo heavy...
