I still drink out of my McDonald's Riddler glass.

Not gonna lie, with how the casting is going, I actually really want the Joker movie to tie in now. Paul Dano's Riddler with this Joker would be pretty cool.

No extended universe. But a Batman and Joker movie should exist in one universe.

You just need Arthur to be the inspiration for the next generation of villains.

Instead of Nigma, or Nygma, his last name will be Nashton. Weird.

I like this

I do agree that for a "grounded" take on Batman, "E. Nygma" is a pretty ridiculous real-life name for a psychopath who uses riddles as his calling card. I don't mind the change.

Absolutely freakin loved Hathaway's Catwoman. I also liked MPs as well but Hathaways a bit more. Both were awesome.

So 2 people casted are legitimately great actors, and the third has the last name Kravitz. Maybe this will be a breakout role for and she can establish herself as a serious actress.

Apparently in the comics he adopts the name "Nygma" when he first takes on the persona of the Riddler.

I could be down with that. As long as it's not his given birth name.

I'd say three legitimately great actors... Pattinson, Dano, and Jeffrey Wright. Kravitz definitely feels like the odd woman out, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she surprises.

Nice. I know the Riddler they compared to him in the tweet is from the Zero Year story, where Riddler shuts Gotham down and cuts the city off from the outside world.

Long Halloween, and its sequel Dark Victory, is awesome.

Jonah Hill as Riddler makes zero sense to me for some reason so glad to see Dano get it.

I know, I just meant Scott Snyder's Zero Year arc from the New 52

I'll give her a chance too, but Kravitz just doesn't look the part to me. Imo, Catwoman is an athletic fighter with curves, so Eiza Gonzalez seemed like a no-brainer to me. Of course, I thought the same about Gal Gadot, and she turned out great, so hopefully I'll be wrong again.

Don't know who Dano is, but has to be better than Jonah Hill. Just can't see him as the Riddler, or any villain for that matter.

What Spilner said. He goes toe-to-toe with Daniel Day Lewis in what many consider to be the greatest movie of the century. He was also fantastic in Love & Mercy, Prisoners, Ruby Sparks, and most recently Escape at Dannemora on Showtime.

Not to derail the thread but I think There Will Be Blood is vastly overrated and extremely boring

I had totally missed that actually, but love him as an actor. Starting to get excited about this one.

Dad of twins has heard of one of those movies. And the greatest movie of this century is Superbad.

Question...

It's sounding more and more like this is going to be an all-out rogues gallery of a movie. My guess is Riddler and Catwoman are the main players outside of Batman, and then from here it'll be a few other lesser known villains. I doubt we see the likes of Harvey Dent and Penguin at this point, but who knows. Either way, yes, we're getting a handful of villains, but we're almost assuredly not getting the Joker.

So, if you're Reeves, and you do a sequel to this movie, is the Joker the villain in the sequel or is that too much like Nolan's iteration where he saved the Joker for the second installment? Or by 2024 or whenever, will it even matter? Say this is another trilogy, we HAVE to see the Joker again, right? And if so, when do you introduce him? Or can you get away with showcasing everyone but him across three movies?

I'm just really curious how Reeves does everything a Batman franchise is supposed to do, but also keeps from treading on certain beats/conceits that have come before?

This is a fantastic casting choice. So out of the box, but makes so much sense when you think about it. Great decision... I like Jonah Hill and think he's a legitimately good actor, so I was intrigued. But admittedly it was hard to picture him as The Riddler. Dano will kill it.

Muck, Dano is fantastic. He's incredible in There Will Be Blood. And you should definitely see Prisoners. That's a fantastic movie by the guy who did Blade Runner 2049 and soon to be Dune.

I really need to watch Love and Mercy. I'm a fan of The Beach Boys and I heard Dano kills it as a young and very crazy Brian Wilson.

Love and Mercy really surprised me. It's incredibly solid.

Ruby Sparks is another underrated gem, too.
