I thought about him, but he is too goofy I think. He nailed the nerdy part of Jack Ryan in that show, but I could never really take him seriously as an action hero.

I will say that I don't hate Zac Effron, and the trailer for the new Ted Bundy movie actually looked pretty decent...

I would say not to ever worry about someone not having enough muscle currently. They can literally be paid to get jacked, see Chris Pratt

You have to get someone who is capable of being charming and well spoken, while also being able to pull of menacing and intense.

It's just a fun idea. Keaton was in mainly comedies before he put on the cape, so I'm thinking who in comedies right now can pull it off. Sudekis is just one of those guys who I enjoy, so I want great success for him.

I believe they'll go the Tom Holland route and grab someone relatively unknown.

Interesting, sounds like we can probably rule out the entire older bracket then.

Yep. I'm betting early-to-mid-30s now.

Exactly what I was thinking. So my money is probably heading towards Aaron Taylor-Johnson or Armie Hammer...Richard Madden would fit the criteria too. Maybe Nicholas Hoult or Hemsworth.

Based on what we're hearing I'd bet he's outside the age range.

I don't know that Taylor-Johnson quite fits the "familiar face" criteria, though. Or maybe he does, it's hard to tell. He's at least won a Golden Globe, so maybe so.

But Armie Hammer just feels right. He looks like a superhero, sounds like a superhero, is seemingly the exact right age, is well-known enough, is constantly in Oscar contenders, and is literally the heir to a tycoon (Armand Hammer, owner of Arm & Hammer), so he's already gone "method" on the whole Wayne thing. Not to mention, he's been cast as Batman once before, and it'd make for a great story if he landed the role again, after that iteration was scrapped last-minute.

my bet is on armie hammer, hes got the size

A great place to mention my favorite unmade DC movie story, in which Armie played Batman.

Here's an old article where he talks about the suit:

Taylor-Johnson has been in more than a few blockbusters though, I'd say he fits familiar pretty well. I think he might be the best bet from the sub-30 demographic.

Hemsworth, or is he too "playful"?

Bradley Cooper
Michael Fassbender?

Ian Somerhalter (Vampire Diaries)
Sebastian Stan (Marvel "Bucky")

Pulling for Gyllenhall or Hammer

I think Reeves will nail the casting, regardless of who it is.

What's crazy is that the company wasn't named after the man, or vice versa. I think it was Armie's great grandfather, a hugely successful businessman, who heard about the brand from people telling him it sounded like his name, so he looked into, and then ultimately bought the company.

This is the second time you've mentioned Pine playing Steve Rogers. What am I missing here, or are you just having a brain fart?

Ha, Steve TREVOR. Whatever his name is. His character in Wonder Woman. You know, the do-gooder soldier in a 20th century world war who's also somehow alive / hasn't aged a bit in a sequel that takes place decades later. How could I ever get them confused?

How old is Gosling? He's a familiar face, hasn't been in any superhero films, I think could make a great Batman and Bruce Wayne.

I know Aaron Taylor-Johnson is supposed to be really good in Nocturnal Animals, but in the only things I've seen him in, he's been pretty spare.

saw jack o'connell's name mentioned yesterday and thought that was interesting. he's younger (28) and could certainly handle the bruce wayne and detective aspects of the role. he'd have to bulk up, but not only does he have time to do so, i think it's possible we don't even see a ton of batman brawling in this one.

So Steven Trevor obviously bailed out of that Gotha bomber before it exploded, but on the way down he fell through some ice at high altitude and was encased. He sleeps peacefully for the next 70 years and is awoken when a Russian oil expedition finds him buried in the French countryside.

Nah, that's not gonna work.

Let's talk more about Ansel Elgort...

  • 25
  • American
  • 6'3
  • Golden Globe nomination for Baby Driver
  • Face recognition from Baby Driver, the Divergent series, and The Fault in Our Stars
  • Blowing up? Just cast as Tony in Speilberg's remake of West Side Story

I personally really enjoyed him in Baby Driver. I think he has the chops. Not sure if he can do action fighting, but I feel like he could nail brooding billionaire kid.

No thanks, what is he gonna be? Baby millenial batman?

You need a man to play batman, not a young boy. He might make a good Robin.

I would actually be good with James Franco... he's got the build and jawline for it. He's pretty goofy in most movies, but he probably got the arrogance and wicked smile to pull it off.

I agree, except to the extent they want to make a Year One movie.
