Adding another new, under-the-radar name that might be good. I haven't seen him go super-dramatic yet, but Glen Powell could potentially pull it off.

Curious about this comment, TCTTS. Do you think they want to go off the radar this time, at least somewhat?

No, I just think they're both "too big," so to speak. I explained my Pine reasoning in an earlier post (essentially, he's potentially had too many franchises already and might not want to do yet another), and then Gosling just seems like too big of a star to be the third guy this century to put on the cowl. Almost like DiCaprio in a way, who'd I'd to that category as well, but almost seems pointless. I don't think Gosling is on that level, obviously, but certain stars just don't do superhero movies. Gosling probably got his fill (and frustration of it not performing box-office-wise) in Blade Runner 2029. I could be completely wrong, though. I never in a million years would have thought Pine would play Steve Rogers or voice Spider-Man. And Gosling might want a huge, guaranteed-to-make-money franchise. So who knows.

As an addition to the young list: what about Bill Skarsgard? He'd have to bulk up for the role but he's absolutely got the acting chops and the face for it.

Was thinking Glen Powell, but I'm a big fan of his. As far as Gyllenhaal, I think he could pull it off easily. Yeah, he's got a quirkiness to him, and he's such a recognizable actor that other roles he's had may bleed over into his portrayal, at least in the viewer's mind... but he's also easily one of, if not the best actor that's been mentioned so far. He could pull off brooding, stoic, tortured no problem. And he could probably roll out the Bruce Wayne charm as well. But I agree, that he probably won't end up in the role and it's not quite a perfect match.

What about the guy from You? That show is blowing up, and he looks like he has the appearance of Bruce at least. No clue how good an actor he is though.

That's a solid choice.

So I had to look up Jack Huston then realized who he was, guy was fantastic on Boardwalk Empire.

I haven't seen him in much else, but he's got the look, decent height (6'0"), and he can seriously act.

Since we're mentioning TV actors -- Kit Harington?

Kitt Harrington and Penn Badgley (from YOU) both might be able to pull it off, I'm just afraid they're too short, at 5'8" and 5'9" respectively. And yes, Keaton is/was 5'9", but I think considering everyone who has played the role since, you've ultimately got to go taller. Added them to the list, though.

I think one thing to remember is that this new actor will essentially be playing a younger version of Affleck, right?

That's another reason I think Gyllenhaal is not a bad choice. They don't took terribly dissimliar.

I think this is going to be more or less a reboot.
TCTTS

I don't think that's the case. We've had no concrete indication either way, but my gut tells me this will be a new, modern take. Completely different universe/continuation. If only because the tone sounds completely different, and Reeves is almost certainly wanting a clean slate. This is noir/detective Batman. Not the hulking, guns-blazing Batman that Snyder introduced. Besides, why go back to the late '90s early '00s with the character? That, and Gyllenhaal isn't that much younger than Affleck. Only eight years.

Didn't know he (Badgley) was that short... and Kitt Harrington must go to the same height confirmer as Kyler Murray.

Gyllenhaal's voice isn't deep enough for the part, imo. (Insert Bale-Bat voice joke here.)

I looked at TC's list. Based on looks alone, I think Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a good pick. He can pull off brooding and has the muscle.

Adkins is the only guy I've ever seen who can legitimately move like Batman would with the right build (though he's apparently only 5'10", looks way bigger on film). He's got the look but he's not the best actor in the world, and he's probably too old at this point (early 40s).

But geez...

Is Bradley Cooper too old for Batman? Maybe he wouldn't be interested due to him wanting to direct more, but I think he could pull off a pretty good Bruce Wayne/Batman combo.

Ooo saw this on Twitter, but Charlie Cox (Daredevil) would be a pretty fun choice! Maybe too hard to differentiate for some fans, but Cox was fantastic over the course of his run as Daredevil.

Added Charlie Cox, and then added Bradley Cooper to the "too famous / not realistic" group. He'd fit in the the "probably too old" group, too. If it were like three or four years ago I could see him being a realistic candidate, but not now. That, and I don't know that he quite fits the mold in general. Maybe, though.

I also forgot about Jon Hamm and added him to the "probably too old" group, since his name has been rumored quite a bit before.

Here's one that I don't know how it would work and probably not even worth putting on TC's list, but what about Jason Sudekis. He's recently been in more indies recently, but something about him seems like he could make the jump.

It might be from the BvS trailers, where Affleck looked a little like Sudekis. Thought I would at least throw it out there.

Edit: just looked it up, and Sudekis is 44! Might be too old.

What's crazy is that after all these responses there's not a single front runner. Gyllenhaal is the most mentioned, but there seem to be equal for and against responses, if not slightly more against. I remember when Bale was rumored, just about everyone and their dog wanted him in the role. There really wasn't much of a question, at least in terms of him being the front runner (though other names were obviously mentioned). Now, we've come up with a sh*t ton of names, but no one is really emerging, not here, and certainly not on Twitter. This is going to be a tough casting process, I imagine...
