Seven episodes set to air later this year...

"Abbreviated" because they felt like 7 episodes was all they needed and it just happened to be fewer than previous seasons, or cut short because of some other reason? I really like the show and hope it can finish strong.

Sounds like the former - that seven episodes is all they need to tell this last season...

Which is great because I loved that movie and the world it built. As a bonus, there should be a big segment of the population that gets all worked up about it.

I think that's the joke.

I gave Euphoria a shot, but I doubt I'll be coming back. For all its "shock" I was mostly just bored. Past all of the screaming for attention, it was nothing we haven't seen a million times before, plot-wise. That, and the characters are all kind of terrible, in myriad ways. It'd be one thing if the show made up for it, like Succession does, with cleverness and amazing/hilarious dialogue, but it just doesn't. At all.

Anyone else watch?

I agree it wasn't great. Was hoping for better acting after finishing Chernobyl.

I agree with all of this on euphoria...but I'll probably watch the whole thing anyway. It's hbo so it has my attention. This will probably be like the late seasons of girls and entourage where the show sucks but I want to watching anyway to see what they have to say about that slice of culture.

Stopped taking it seriously when they had dream on ranked 3rd to last.

That's fine. But what would you say makes you have that opinion. I think it is one of the best made shows in television history. From the immersion in time and place, the incredible ensemble cast (seems like everyone in the show is a who's who for year to come), and finally the story. This is a show that was cut down in it's absolute prime and it was a terrible shame.

I can see if it didn't resonate fully due to the fact that it was an incomplete story due to it's cancellation. But that doesn't diminish what was put out there from being brilliant. Imagine if Sopranos got cancelled after 3 seasons and didn't get to complete it's story. Or Breaking Bad gets cancelled after a couple of seasons. You can't help but feel that it diminished the final product slightly (given that you know where it eventually went). But that doesn't diminish the great show that it had already become up to that point.

I get that it's your opinion but I am just curious why you have such strong negative feelings about Deadwood.

I don't have strong negative feelings about it. It's not a bad show, it's very well done... it's just what I said, massively overrated (in my opinion).

Ranking it second and over The Wire is a joke (again, in my opinion). But you are right about the cast, they are absolutely great. The acting is fantastic, Al Swearingen is incredible... But the dialogue is pretentious as hell and the show is incredibly boring for the most part. It became a chore for me to finish.

I just think it's overrated.
