It's from writer/director Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines), is based on the novel of the same name, and the third of six episodes aired last night. Overall, I'm of two minds about it. On one hand, it's really, really, really good, with beautiful (if not haunting) cinematography, incredible acting, a sneaky good soundtrack, and some amazing Ruffalo-playing-both-twins work. But on the other hand... it's basically depression porn, as just about every tragic thing you can possibly imagine happens to the central family, to the point where it's kind of ridiculous and almost bludgeoning. And yet... I would still recommend it? If you're in the mood? At the very least, Ruffalo should have the Emmy in the bag. He's next level here. Curious to hear if anyone has given it a shot.
Just FYI, the series finale (episode six) aired last night and it was incredible. So glad I stuck with this show. Made all the tragedy worth it, IMO. Just an all-around phenomenal series.
I really enjoyed the finale. Still so much heartache but with some real hopefulness at the end.

And yeah, the step dad blew me away in the finale. Both in terms of the acting/performance, but also how we went from a peripheral character to more of the emotional crux. So good.

No idea if this will be any good or not, but I will check it out because of Dennis Kelly. He did Utopia, one of the best shows that no one has ever seen.

Filming for succession is about to start back up. My wife's cousin bummed our xfinity login off of us so he can do research by watching Fox News. Or so he claims, I think he really probably just wants to watch Aggie football and the American feed for EPL games.

Did anyone watch The Undoing last night? I enjoyed the first episode. Great cast.
I'm always down to give a chance to whatever Sunday night drama HBO has on the slate, but the negative reviews have kept me away from this one so far. Your reaction is encouraging, though, and makes me want to give it a shot.
Watched the first 3 of the Undoing this weekend and I'm enjoying it very much. I had no idea what the show was about going in other than it starred Nicole Kidman, had bad review headlines and my wife was being badgered by her facebook groups to watch it.
So not knowing at all what type of show it was really made the pilot very fun (Where are they going with this? Oh wow, ok let's go). The foreign girl is mesmerizing and had a gold certified HBO prestige TV nude scene.
It's Big Little Lies in New York but not nearly as good - not enough dark comedy and not enough A-listers.

I guess the graphic designer didn't care about getting the right plane silhouette on the poster.
