Those millions of floating balls on the surface are there to keep the overhead light out. The tank itself apparently has some kind of alternate light source beneath the surface. I guess it makes more sense than having to open and close some kind of cover/lid over and over, especially with all the equipment. Pretty smart.

I just watched the Campea video explaining this. Interesting.

What the hell has Sam Worthington even done since the first one? The Clash of the Titans trainwrecks and anything else of any note at all??

You spelled masterpiece wrong.

I'm still not certain Avatar II is coming out before I qualify for the senior citizen discount.

The family thing has me nervous, as the potential for cloying/annoying kid stuff is incredibly high. That said, I could also very well see it being *the* key ingredient to launching the franchise to box office glory all over again, for a whole new generation...

I think I read a while back that they have either four or five kids now? All of which I'm assuming are roughly 1/4 human, considering the genetics involved? If so, there's no way one of them doesn't rebel and side with the humans in some way. I'd also be shocked if part three does't end with either Jake or Neytiri dying, and that's how the kid realizes the error of his or her ways. Then, in four and five, if greenlit (currently scheduled for 2025 and 2027, respectively), the rebel kid will be the one to lead the Na'vi going forward. Book it.

Let the record show that at 2:18 AM PT, I was speculating about the plot to the Avatar sequels for some dumb reason, speculation of which involved me being "nervous" and talk of "genetics." Worse, I somehow not only remembered the names, but remembered how to spell, "Neyteri" and "Na'vi" without hesitation.

And with that, I will now hang my head in shame as I finally make my way to bed.

Good night.

How is that?
Didn't they transfer his soul into the clone/avatar body? So wouldn't the kids be half Na'vi and half avatar (however they made that)? Is there human DNA in the avatar body?

I'm 99% certain the dude from Inception says that the avatar bodies are made with human DNA. I don't think it's quite 50/50, but that's why the avatar bodies have the same facial features/look as their respective human counterparts. It's also why Jake was picked in the first place - because he shared the same DNA as his twin brother, who died, was the one originally enrolled in the program, and who's avatar was already being grown.

Ok. Shows how much I paid attention to the early details.

So it took them 11 years to conceive the plot "family goes on road trip?"

Is Lindsey Buckingham going to re-record "Holiday Road" in Na'vi for the soundtrack?

Just turn it into a Disney musical and be done with it.

Otherwise its sounding like it will be campy as hell.

it definitely is sounding Phatom-Menacy, and I am not meaning that in a good way.

Ed Norton and Terrence Howard should do a podcast called "That time I decided not to continue appearing in billion dollar movies for 10 years."

The more I see of this movie, the more I feel like it's gonna be an Aquaman (to the power of 10).

And I really enjoyed Aquaman, so bring it on.

So overblown CGI and a completely predictable and yawn worthy story, overacted to the extreme, and full of jealousy of a rival cinematic universe?

Whatever you think of the story, the first one was absolutely worth seeing in theater. for the visuals alone. I would expect the 2nd to deliver the same

Can't wait!

Granted, I got burned last time I watched the making of a movie series years in advance and hyped myself up for it (The Hobbit), but never count out Cameron.

The crazy thing is, the movie itself *still* doesn't come out for another TWO YEARS, almost to the week. It feels like they've been making the first two sequels for the past three years, at least. I'm actually looking forward to the BTS video series as well, but man, it's kind of absurd how much longer we still have to go.

Is there any indication when principal filming would wrap?

Curious how long the first of the sequels will be in post given that it'll prob be ~90% CGI.
