We've got titles!

Avatar: The Way of Water
Avatar: The Seed Bearer
Avatar: The Tulkun Rider
Avatar: The Quest for Eywa

Looks like all of these may have been accurate.

The Seed Bearer is so bad. It's like the porno version of an Avatar title. The rest are decent, though, with The Way of Water being my personal favorite.

That 4th one looked at first glance like Tusken Raider.

These blaster points are too precise for Tulkuns, and they fly single file to hide their numbers.

Got some claps in the theater when the trailer started.

Guy next to me literally yelled "****ING FINALLY". (Promise it wasn't me.)

Saw it at the Chinese Theater with about 900 other people. There were some big claps for Top Gun: Maverick, some legit excitement/quite a bit of cheering for Thor: Love and Thunder, but the crowd absolutely lost their minds for Avatar. To the point where when just the "Lightstorm" logo came up after the 20th Century Studios logo, one guy yelled, "WHAT???!!!" - again at *just* the logo, because he knew what it meant - and then when the rest of the theater realized after the first shot or two, the place just erupted. It was the damnedest thing. Granted, it's also probably just an LA thing, but it was a young-ish crowd too - a lot of 20-somethings - and maybe the first movie really is a big thing for them when they were kids. Either way, it was nuts and totally unexpected.

As for the trailer itself, I thought it was awesome. Hardly any dialogue, but the score was so damn good, and the imagery was incredible. Again, maybe it was just the vibe in the theater or the moment or whatever, but it really landed with me, as simple as it was. It felt like a massive event movie, in a way a trailer hasn't felt in a long time, not even with Endgame or most of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. I'm not at all saying this will be as good as Endgame, or is even as remotely cherished as Star Wars. It's just that there was a wonder and anticipation in the theater during that trailer I haven't felt in forever, and it was really cool to experience.

So ready for this one now.

Crowd was silent for it in our theater tonight, compared to Top Gun and Thor. To be honest, the trailer really didn't do much for me after all this time. Let's see how their marketing campaign unfolds over the next few months.

That's awesome.

The trailer hit the exact vibe I was hoping for. Epic in scale, no story, little to no dialogue, but just re-welcoming us to the world of Pandora. And that rendition of the score was just awesome. The whole thing was chills inducing. Cannot wait for this movie.

Never doubt James Cameron!

Plus, the fact that everyone in the theater is watching it for the very first time really added to the excitement. It's been forever since we've had that. Hell I can't even think of the last movie to release their first trailer exclusively in theaters.

My wife leaned over and asked if I knew it was coming out. I said yes and then I was wracking my brain trying to remember the trailer because they're always released on YouTube first these days. So great to see it

Obviously don't click if you want to avoid seeing it.

That's a great point, and part of why it played so well, I think. Nolan is the last guy to do this, I think, but I'm to the point where I want all big trailers to go this route. Debut them in theaters first, then online the week after (just tell us *when* they're going to be online, because that's something they didn't always do for Nolan trailers). That said, I'm guessing studios would rather have the big online debut/imprint/buzz over debuting it online after a lot of people already saw it in theaters.

Speaking of, this is where I get all my top-tier trailers - in pure, non-compressed/non-YouTube 4K, along with 5.1 sound, etc - and he has the Avatar trailer uploaded and ready to post. Albeit in 1080p and not 4K yet, but it'll still be better than any YouTube or even Apple encode. Disney apparently isn't releasing the trailer officially on YouTube until next week, so it sounds like this will likely be the first place to get it, whenever this guy decides to pull the trigger. He tries to be above board, and doesn't want to jump the gun too much, but is aiming for sometime on Friday, since it's technically in theaters now...

I've noticed Disney being psycho about bootleg versions of the trailer on YouTube and Twitter, snuffing them out all over the internet, so this dude is now likely holding off until they drop the official embed online, hopefully early next week.

For those interested, I think this is the first full version I've seen. Not sure how long it'll stay up. Also, Indian audiences seem super fun.

Looks good. Not blow me away good or that much visually different than the first, but still good.

Cameron has my money if for no other reason that Avatar was probably the only movie I ever saw that actually put me in awe of 3D. It was a great experience. So I have faith in him that he'll deliver a fun ride.

I think they know this trailer is not gonna have the same impact on a phone or computer screen as in a theater, so they were smart to give it a full weekend in theaters first.

I still cannot wrap my head around how this Ferngully knock off became one of the biggest money makers of all time.

The first one was a pretty movie, but it wasn't anything new... is there really that much of a following for this movie to have numerous sequels in the works?

A cool detail is that the trip from Pandora to Earth takes 6 years, so a round trip for the RDA, plus a year on Earth for gathering resources, could be exactly 13 years, the same as the real world time gap.

Could be cool if the time jump is exactly the same as for us.

Has there been any announcement regarding presentation? Will it still be those real 3d glasses or something entirely new? With the state of theatres post Covid, I would assume they do not have the budget to adapt new technology.
