I agree that it has started slow, but if BB is any indication, that's Gilligan's style. He takes the time to set things up, slowly and methodically. In the case of breaking bad it paid off huge later in the series. I am hoping for the same thing here, especially since a second season has already been green lighted. But part of me does wish they would have picked a starting point later in the Saul developmental path.

I, too, agree it has been a little slow, but I know it will pick up and am still enjoying the show overall.

I'm not sure he has the money for tv spots and ads so i wouldn't think he's well known at all.

Personally, I don't think it it is slow at all. Not everything has to be ridiculously fast paced. I imagine some episodes will be soon.

Well, I like both characters, and I think we are going to see mike become involved more and more as the show goes on.

Mike looks incredibly OLD....... I guess makeup couldn't do the trick here. He looks 10 years older than in Breaking Bad. He looks too old to be on a show. I hope he makes it.

I like the show, but come on, the show has started slow. Geeze, that opening scene at Cinnabon - it was excruciatingly long. You could have made the point in half the time. Several scenes now just don't have any hurry in them at all.

The scene with the billboard guy was also a little slow.

It's been a while since I watched BB, and I binge-watched it with no thread interaction..... but I would imagine it was that way, too, for a majority of the episodes.

I like the back stories a lot. But I was expecting more of a Rockford Files approach - each week, Saul advises another dumb criminal, with some season long escapades with a lot of hilarity and stupidity.

I am still not sure that it wouldn't have been better to have recognizable Saul on Episode 1 and then just incorporate flashbacks to build the backstories on how Saul became Saul.

I have a feeling you should just stop watching because you will be severely disappointed if that's how you honestly think.

  • That opening scene was one of the best of the show so far. Classic Gilligan
  • And the billboard scene was classic con-man Saul. You know...What the entire show is based on.
Get used to scenes like these.

The opening scene at Cinnabon, including him going home and watching his commercials in the dark...is possibly my favorite scene so far. That set the tone so well.

Stop watching this show if you just wanted BB 2.0. I almost wish VG would have not included anything even remotely related to BB other than Saul, just to really make you all squirm.

I predict I will have to remove myself from this thread in about 3 more episodes for the sake of my sanity.

With hearing so many good things about BrBa, when I saw Bryan Cranston running around the desert in his underwear in the first episode I almost turned it off never to watch again.

I loved the cinnabon scene too, and him watching a vhs tape of his Saul commercials was pathetic and awesome

i'm interested to see how/why he became a lawyer. I seem to recall from one of the BB episodes that he had a law degree from some foreign crappy place, like "American Samoa Law School" or something. I expect his brother pushed him there to get the bare minimum to get licensed, maybe got him a clerkship at HHM, and then who knows what. we may never fully know, the same way we don't fully know about Walt and Grey Matter

He was wearing an American Samoa Law School t-shirt on the last episode I believe.

I find this show to be more of a comedy than BB was. Overall I'm loving it. More so than I was the first few episodes of BB

I need to communicate better. I liked both scenes - Cinnabon and especially the billboard. I just thought they could be sped up a little. I didn't need to see him take every step up the ladder.

It did make me want a cinnamon roll, though.

Just finished it and can't believe I never got this before.

I posted a few times on previous BB threads "It's all good man!" and no one noticed?!

Uh...... Plenty knew this without your clarity of the BB thread. But thx.

Bob Odenkirk had a great sketch comedy show on HBO a while back called Mr. Show with Bob and David. He started honing in on his lawyer character with Don Pratt, I am not a lawyer. Here are the Mr. Show Top 25 sketches.

That was a really slow, uneventful episode.

First episode of the show that I would say was mediocre to bad.

I am really enjoying this show.

The sex toilet thing was hilarious, as was Jimmy trolling the old folks home.

Very interested in Mike's upcoming story.
