No...medillin was made after AM2. He wanted to do Medillin, but he couldn't, and he demanded more money, and was fired.

(I haven't seen Season 3 lately, so forgive me if I don't get the sequence 100% correct, but this is beset recollection of how the Aquaman 2 stuff went down.)

The guys learn that Medellin and Aquaman 2 are set to shoot at the same time. Ari, E, and Vince try to haggle with Warner to shorten the shooting schedule, postpone it until after Medellin, anything. Alan tells them he can't do it, he understands "passion projects" are important, but the studio can't shorten the schedule as much as Vince needs it to be shortened and they can't afford to delay production because "we've got a ten million gallon water tank sitting out there." The guys try to get the Medellin folks to alter their schedule, but they can't shorten theirs either. Paul Haggis shows up at Vince's house late one night with a bottle of wine, says he can't imagine the project without Vince, and proposes a brainstorming session. Haggis and the guys, along with Saigon and his bro, sit around for hours, before finally coming up with a solution: they shoot part of the movie before Aquaman, part after. Haggis thinks he can make that work. All seems to be well.

Then Alan tells Vince that Warner can't let him do Aquaman - he's the golden boy of their franchise, and they don't want people seeing him snort a line of blow on every big screen in America. When questioned, Alan admits that he never seriously wanted to knock some days off the shooting schedule or help accommodate Medellin. He didn't think they could pull off both movies and thought he'd just give the appearance of being helpful. This duplicity pisses off Vince and he raises his demand on Aquaman to some ridiculous figure like $20 million. Alan gets pissed, Vince gets pissed, and Ari tries to make nice with everyone, but Vince gets fired off Aquaman and Alan all but promises to deep six Vince's career. Shortly thereafter, Alan buys the "I Wanna Be Sedated" script from Bob Ryan and ensures that Vince will never get to do that movie.

Alan Gray is a mean, vindictive human being.

The name "Alan Grey" is a shoutout to real Warner Bros. prez Alan Horn and Paramount prez Brad Grey, both of whom are mean, vindictive human beings.

Nice. Didn't know that, but it makes sense in that they did a similar thing with "Harvey Weingard" referencing "Harvey Weinstein."

I know a lot of people like the show mainly for the partying and lifestyle of the boys, but my favorite parts are always the Hollywood wheeling-and-dealing with Ari and the studio execs. I'm not a fan of the celebrity gossip and all that crap that goes on in the real world, but I'm fascinated by the deal-making that goes on to put these multi-million dollar projects together.

I wish they would. The movies Vince has made, even the ones that we don't know too much about (like Head On) sound better than most of what I see coming out of Hollywood now. Thank goodness, though, that he didn't sign on to do that Edith Wharton crap that Amanda pitched when she was repping him.

Based on a season preview HBO showed this morning, Vince definitely gets Smoke Jumpers

best episode of the season so far IMO...maybe not the funniest, but still good all around

No Dom, no old guy on golf course, no Bow Wow. Not a great episode. I did like seeing Phil. I heard an interview with him saying that Entourage is his favorite show on TV.

I liked most of it. Alan switching to golf left handed was pretty lame. Other than that, I thought it was good.

Which part are you looking forward to.. the ghey part or Ari's wife screaming for 15 minutes then giving it up because he supports her lifestyle?

I doubt it will be resolved. It was just an add on joke at the end, not a major plot point.

Supports her lifestyle? She's got more money than Ari.

I was just looking forward to the verbal beat down that Ari is going to put on Lloyd.
