I completely wasted my second guess. I caught that as I was hitting enter.

I thought I'd try a new strategy and missed the 50-50 shot at 3, so my last two guesses were the same as yours. A different 2nd guess might have narrowed it down to 1.

I should have gotten this one in 2, but didn't think it through. I'm really pissed I got it in 3.

38+47=85
I knew that 3 could not go in the fourth spot and didn't think that through. Without that possiblity there aren't a lot of other combinations to use the 3, 4, 5, and 7.

Hit another 2 with a 1 in 3 guess to drop below a an average of 3.2 guesses/nerdle.

It took me four today.

Back to 3, but it could have been 4 or 5 if I missed the 1 in 3 guess.

All of my luck has shifted away from wordle to nerdle the last few days.

I took me 5. I had it mostly figured out after the 2nd guess, but it took me all 3 of the possible 3 choices to guess that last number.

I got exactly the same answer in 3 with a similar strategy. Over half my games are 3 because of it.

When was the "commutative" mode introduced? It's turned on by default, and addresses the biggest gripe people have had. Seems to always put bigger numbers and * first regardless though.

Glad I found this thread/game, just what I needed

It took me four guesses.

I actually considered the final answer for my 2nd guess, but didn't like the arrangement, so I guessed 1 of the other 7 arrangements and ended up with 3 again. Note made for future guesses.

EDIT: Yesterday's solution in the form .*..-.=. is 1 of 45 in that form out of 17,723.
I chose the same numbers and operators with the form ..-.*.=. which is the 3rd most common at 710.

The two most common forms are:
3240 ..+..=..
3240 ..-..=..

Hit a 3 today.

It took me 5 tonight. I'm not sure why either. Maybe I have tired head.

I got it in 4, and was happy. Then my 9-year old got it in 3, and I was less excited. Then my wife got it in 2, and that just ended my night.

When I found the solution I immediately thought of you because of similarity to your typical opener.

I opened with 18+45=63 leaving only 3 possible solutions 14+45, 12+45, or 10+45.

Back to 3.

I think I'd rather have an impure 4 than a pure 6 (or purely miss it altogether).

Yesterday I mistyped one number and then when I was summing them up I realized it didn't add, so I corrected the right side of the equation and hit enter before I checked my work. It would have been embarrassing for Jr. High math. "Slow down so you don't screw up." Really funny that grown ups can do the same stupid crap of we aren't careful.
