Which one the F1TV main broadcast or the Sky Sports broadcast?

I'm watching on apple so I think that's f1tv.
I just heard them excitedly talking about two cars touching and all I saw was a couple of cars following each other through a corner. The whole thing seems a little disjointed.

Yeah I pretty much stick to the Sky Sports one since they are more familiar to the ear

The F1TV broadcast has been much better than Sky Sports was last year. They clearly said Gasly and ocon made contact and then showed the replay. And a bit later followed up showing the damage to Gasly's front wing end plate.

There was some potential contact in the small video box on the timing screen

Cadillac just dropping parts. Guess it's not just their civilian cars

What a nice drive for Olly, Haas has got to be happy with that.

Just finally finished. Lots of great battles today. Looks like Mercedes-Ferrari could replace McLaren-Red Bull as the main constructor battle. Only Week 1 though.

Interesting find. I've only been watching since late 2018 season so I can't speak to any of this…..

Pretty sure this is the first race weekend I haven't watch since 2020. Not getting another subscription service (only pay for YTTV, just not a fan of the subscription model). Yes it's only $13/month, but it's more the principal

Same here. From what I've seen of the new regs though, it doesn't seem like we're missing too much.

I might pay for the months where the races are in the US or Europe, but I won't be watching the late races much anyways

First off I'm glad to see there's an F1 thread, lots of activity too. Secondly, the complaining was much ado about nothing.

Was just able to watch the race and thought it was a blast. I think it's going to be a great season. Really hope things settle down and the Abu Dhabi GP isn't impacted.

The race was interesting. So many cars that weren't ready. Fascinating to see how the boost and overtake functions come into play. And then how tires wear and auto aero works.

Rough day for lots of teams. Big start for Merc.

I didn't want Apple tv. Got a trial to try it. I'll probably buy it. Hate to get another sub but I'll enjoy some of their shows I've never seen.

If you haven't watched Ted Lasso and Silo, I'd highly recommend

I can understand why F1 purists may hate it but it was fun to see a bunch of passing. Enjoyable race compared to most races being decided in qualifying or in turn 1 lap 1.

There's a ton of great Apple content including movies.

I saw part of Ted Lasso on a series of flights and loved it. So there's definitely upside to getting all that content. I wanted to a one year sub but can't get that to work through Google or Amazon. I'll have to try directly with Apple.

Another thing, id been thinking about with all the battery stuff. I heard someone, maybe a driver, say it's like Mario kart.

If they could throw bananas or turtle shells, it would basically be Mario cart with all the boost, recharging, auto aero, and overtake that are like power ups. I guess like Mario cart, it would be better if the power ups were even better for cars in the back. Very interesting how it's shaped up.

I also found a good video in Apple tv that explains all the changes this year. Like how boost and overtake work plus when the back wing opens. Good stuff.

With the new "Mario Kart" regs in place, they could probably make that pretty interesting.

Years ago when CART was still a thing they tried racing at TMS. They ended up having to cancel the race because drivers were pulling too much G-force in the corners and starting to black out.

I wonder how the F1 cars would handle it?

this is a bigger loss to F2, F3, and F1 Academy, especially F2 and F3 who are the ones that pay the most to race there.

2 race weekends gone for F2 and 1 for F3 and F1 Academy. Because of the costs the drivers pay in these series they tend to look for alternatives.

Would be great for a long period of recharge on the turns and then the boost on the straightaways

Send them to Miami!!!!!
jorgerr96
How long do you want to ignore this user?
i looked into it first but Miami has McLaren Trophy america this year along with Porsche Carrera Cup NA, so that's already 2 support series like last year (PSC and F1A)

Miami is one of the venues to open the latest in the calendar along with Vegas (Altho this one goes all the way to around 10 pm), doors for Friday opened at like 12 or 1 pm, sat and sun are your more common 10 am starts but still not enough.

For comparison, something like Monza where they have F1, F2, F3 and PSC the first race on sunday of last year was at 8:05 AM (didnt make it cause of the train starting at 730 am lol).

Honestly though, I hope things settle down in the Middle East in time for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the year.

I actually live in the W hotel in Yas Marina that has the GP track, you can watch the race from my balcony. I have been to the Austin, Montreal, Las Vegas, and Spa races, but nothing compares to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Amazing concerts, celebrities everywhere. Its a bucket list item if you haven't been

COTA is 23 min from me and I'd rather go to Abu Dhabi. Hoping they fan steal back the F1A finale from Vegas to make it as busy as 2024

Feel like because its also the end of season for everyone the mood is better than mid season.

F3 drivers arrive early for F2 testing as well.

That being said the 2 stop flights from Austin are miserable lol
