I guess they made the call to only limit a portion of the track since racers would not be coming back around at full speed. There were yellows at that corner, but immediately went back to green after they passed Bottas. (If I recall)

Yeah, I can see that being the reason for it and not ending the race under yellow/VSC. You could see a waving green flag just past where Bottas was in the wall. They showed the camera angle looking back towards that corner as Russell and Max were coming through. Glad nothing else bad happened.

this is getting pretty funny because Imola started grandstand construction this week but also I found out this morning that the Abu Dhabi entertainment contracts have been approved this week as well.

The actual Domenicali quotes to Sky Italy were:
"We have confirmed the calendar; the final two Grands Prix are set to take place in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. That is the direction we've chosen based on the information we have - and subject, of course, to the necessary assurances which are absolutely essential. This is the strategy we intend to follow through to the end of the year."

So it's nothing new. Same thing he keeps saying and then media just runs with the "Qatar and Abu Dhabi are confirmed".

The biggest news of the day is that Lance Stroll completed his first full race of the season.

Until today he had either retired early or finished at least one lap down which meant he didn't finish all laps of the race.

Love that for him.

Gotcha. Admittedly, I've been doing the "Race in 30" replays for the last few races and haven't caught all the commentary and replays.

Was it determined whether it was wheel spin or software issue that caused Max to have a terrible start? He got jumped at the starting line and spent most of the race playing catch up. He struggled with grip compared to Mercedes and Ferrari on the first lap but the slow start looked almost like a continuation of the formation lap issues.

F2 and F3 calendar released, F2 is headed to Mexico City. F2 and F3 are in Canada which along with F1 Academy would make it one of the busiest races of the year.

I am beginning to think F1 is starting to punish the US for disrupting their calendar.... No US sprint races and no F2/F3 support races. They clearly have to funds to bring them to North America.

no lie i agree with that lol. The US got the absolute worst deal for 2027. I am assuming F1 Academy will at least be in Vegas but both Miami and Austin could be axed.

I think the big loss is COTA as I expect another horrendous race to attend like last year. I think with Miami and Canada this year, F2 saw that they can do the trip if F1 handles the logistics, but both Miami and Vegas are not tracks people want to race at. Ask any F2/F3 driver what circuit should be next and the answers have always been Suzuka and COTA (Suzuka more), but no one ever says "I want to race in Miami".

Mexico is the big surprise imo, specially because that's a one race weekend trip. They could've done a double header with COTA or Interlagos, but Mexico only is interesting.

These trips do add to the price of being in F2 so I wouldn't be surprised if we see a different grid by Mexico. Many F2 drivers that are on their 2nd year or 3rd year and not close to winning or getting SL points just give up and leave. Nico Varrone did that already as he left after Madrid.
