Interesting to see Lando getting more comfortable with winning and Max more comfortable with p2

The more this season goes on with all the drama behind the scenes, Red Bull has become one of my most hated teams. What a cluster **** and pay for play organization.

The lack of safety cars and mechanical failures is really wild this year. Really feels like part of the strategy and a lot of excitement is missing without pit stops under caution and restarts. I'm team Lando all the way, but we all hated Max winning by 20+ seconds and now we have McLaren doing the same thing. Bring back hard racing and wrecks!

As long as it's not too gimmicky, feels like they should try out mandatory usage of all 3 compounds if they can use softer tires than a track normally dictates (at least try it out like the did with the ATA qualifying in 23). They have enough races to do a trial run…..

Who is replacing him? Lawson?

Yeah, the expectation is Lawson will be promoted to his seat.

I love it. I couldn't fathom why a guy who scored points on short notice want given more time to develop.

So McLaren is pretty ticked off about the Danny Ric fastest lap and want a review of the Red Bull/ VCARB relationship.

It was his last F1 race after nearly a decade, going to be hard to prove it was all to help Max and not just for a fun send off.

It's dumb and a reach. But Danny's comment along the lines of "If Max wins the championship by one point, I just secured myself a nice Christmas gift" probably didn't help.

This destroys what little strategy there is in choosing tyre compounds. If everyone has to use the exact same compounds they will all come to more or less the exact same strategy.

Red Bull shouldn't have a second team.

Red Bull is the only reason F1 didn't drop below ten teams when Minardi was about to fold.

It will be interesting to see if the second dominant run of the cost cap era ends the same way as this one. Will McLaren lose literally everyone to more money from other teams, or will they be able to keep it together?

Eh... its not much different now. Top 10-12 start on the same tires for most races (maybe one outlier like Merc did with Hamilton). At least it adds more pitstop jeopardy or more chances for over/under-cuts. Some of the cars are way better on a specific compound so could increase strategy by going long or short on stint. The only suspense in this race was would Norris hit the wall a 3rd time and f-up his win.

For this even have a chance to work, Pirelli would have to bring a softer tire compound assuming it could handle the strains of a specific track and not have premature blowouts.....

Hulkenberg: He did it to himself, really. He could have replaced Kovalainen at McLaren instead of Button. He stayed loyal to Williams too long. He never got another top team opportunity after that.

Ricciardo: His driving style requires a car with a nimble front end and high downforce, like Vettel. He never adapted well to the lower downforce cars, but probably would have been okay if he stayed with Renault as that car had a nimble front end. I think he achieved exactly what his ceiling was, a Carlos Reutemann type of driver who could win races.

K-Mag: I actually agree here. McLaren should have kept him on, but they were pretty arrogant about their problems in this timeframe and refused to take accountability. Blamed the drivers that year, blamed Honda the next few years, etc.

I'm fairly new to F1… my sense is that Senna was the most charismatic driver of his era and Schumacher is the GOAT… is that accurate?

*ETA… honorable mention to Hamilton?

Senna died in his prime. Schumacher didn't. Senna >> Schumacher

Senna and Jim Clark are very alike. Both were the best of their generation, and both died before they achieved all they could. Personally, I believe Senna was a little bit better than Schumacher. People often forget Schumacher was the car immediately behind Senna at Imola. Many of their races throughout 1993 and early 1994 had them right together, often with Senna being the car in front.

Paging Jorgerr96

Any chance I can get you to email me at r_s_t_r_e_w2000 at gmail dot com without all the spaces.

I'd like to ask you some questions offline about traveling to F1 races.

Thanks,
Roger
