Looks like Uralkali got their payment confirmed this morning as Haas was allowed to leave the Netherlands for Monza.

Tell me again how an Andretti F1 team could potentially damage the prestige of F1?

Meanwhile Williams is about $1 million ahead of everyone in the destructors championship.

Crazy that he is gone 1 race after the summer break. Its like firing your coach after game 1 of the season.

With the amount of damage Sargent and Albon are doing to their cars, I don't think they could afford to keep both of them. At least Albon has scored some points (4).

F2 is quite a mess right now too lmao. Franco leaving this weekend, which is the F3 finale, and surely nobody from the Top 7 would leave and skip the chance of potentially becoming the F3 champion...my hope is MP moves up Alex Dunne.

Then you have Roman Stanek running out of money and Monza being his last weekend. Taylor Barnard got signed to McLaren Formula E today so he will miss out on Abu Dhabi as that is during the FE season opener.

Honestly makes me very happy I decided to book that Abu Dhabi trip back in June. F1 alone has the final races of Lewis in Mercedes and lots of F2/F1 Academy drivers leaving the grid this year too. Going to be an emotional weekend.

Crazy. Logan gets canned while $300k ahead of Alex, who gets an extension.

Is JV just Gunther Steiner in a British accent?

JV is starting to remind me of the various assistants who left the New England Patriots over the years. Go to a messed up team and try to be a clone of Bill Belichick. Doesn't always work out.

(Apologies as I became a little hyper fixated and dug into some numbers)

I don't think its that crazy. Sargeant consistently finishes behind Albon, and really almost everyone else.

Last year he finished 21st in the standings behind Liam Lawson and ahead of Nick Devries who only had half a season before being replaced. This year he was ahead of Valteri Bottas, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Valteri had one DNF while Sargeant has had two (not including Australia when they gave his car to Albon).
For reference, Albon is currently 18th in the standings and finished 14th last year.

In the last two years he has earned a grand total of 1 point, with none this year. In that same span Albon has earned 31 points with only 4 coming this year.

Now let's talk wrecks.

Sargeant won the Destructors Championship last year doing a total of $4,333,000 worth of damage to his vehicle and he currently sits in P2. Adding up last year and this year he racked up $7.43M in damages. Albon has done $5.18m in that same time frame.

This is not meant to be a defense of Alex Albon by any means. He's got his own issue for sure. But look at the two, I think its pretty clear. You cut the driver that doesn't perform as well and costs you the most money.

Feel like we are a year away from knowing. The excuse has been the infrastructure and making the car more neutral for better development. Williams sacked Jost Capito because he was spending too much on parties and hospitality, but he's arguably gotten more out of the team than JV has so far.

I absolutely think British bias is embellishing his results and changes, though.

Albon, gets too much credit for being Max's teammate and the some what irrational blow back against Red Bull's management. He's never had a serious teammate at Williams. Sainz should be an excellent measuring stick for whether or not he's actually improved.

I think you didn't go deep enough in the analysis. Of those races in the past two years, what were some races where Logan should have finished in the Top 10?

First, you need to think about the Top 5 teams. If no one retires from the top 10, then it doesn't matter where Logan finishes because it won't be in a points finish.

Second, since reliability of the Big 5 cars is so good, Logan would often be told to hold position in 16th or 17th; or he would be given data collection missions instead of competing. Logan also ran a 2023 spec car for all of 2024 as opposed to Alex who ran the 2024 upgrades.

With those 2024 upgrades, Alex had only two finishes in the top 10. In one of those races, Logan fished 11th, even without the upgrades.

So it's disingenuous to say "Logan didn't score points so he is bad" because the Big 5 routinely occupy all Top 10 spots. No one makes the argument that the Williams' car is better than the Aston Martins because the difference in pace is clear to see.

The only expectation Logan could have failed is the expectation to not crash the car. Which he did only twice in 2024 and cost the team almost as much as Alex did. Yet the consequences are wildly different. And JV has routinely said Logan needs more pace.

With a 2023 car. So JV's reasoning of more pace with less car is contradictory and can only point to a personal issue between Logan and JV.

I conclude with the destructors championship highlights a personal bias against Logan in favor of literally any other driver because the numbers don't add up.

Safety car always does some high speed track testing a day before the event. I am sure the graphics are just a production test since I think they bring all their equipment from race to race like the teams.

I'm thinking sway or roll bar failure. You see the car start to turn left at the start of the video. He loses it when he corrects to the right to open up the corner.

Colapinto almost did the same. F2 drivers are not a safe pair of hands. JV wants to give his Academy guy a shot and the other option was basically Mick (who knows how to bin a car) but putting a midlevel rookie in that car is taking a gamble and feels like an overreaction to the last Sargeant crash.
