If Red Bull is really still holding a grudge from Toro Rosso days, well, it fits with their other moves regarding that second seat. For as much as they love Marko, he has totally mishandled their driver program.

Also feel that Sainz should have taken a fat bag from Audi vs lingering in the back with Williams. I love Williams, but they're a total longshot.
Although Williams is not called Mercedes' B team, they are definitely linked even though Toto sold his shares.. They borrowed Russell when Hamilton was ill a few years back then he returned to Williams and then later moved up to Mercedes. I'd speculate Mercedes wants to take a chance on Antonelli but if he bombs, I suspect they call on Williams to swap out with Sainz.

I have no inside knowledge but I did have dinner with Jenson Button many years ago. Unbelievably likable bloke.

AutoSprint claims Newey will be announced at Aston Martin in early September, but the claims don't stop there the report also claims Stroll is intent on tempting Max Verstappen to follow Newey across to join his team, and that negotiations between the two sides have already begun with an eye towards 2026.

Verstappen remains under contract with Red Bull until 2028, although speculation has been rife this year that the Dutch driver has eyed up switches to other teams, with Mercedes' Toto Wolff making it very clear he is the preference to replace Lewis Hamilton when the seven-time F1 World Champion departs for Ferrari.

Thanks for the tip on the Blue Miami GP Ferrari hats. I bought two for myself and my buddy and they came in yesterday.

Even if it wasn't the special edition, $41 is pretty damn cheap for an official F1 team hat. Some of the ones at COTA last year were as much $125

Aston Martin is not a real team until Lance finds something else to do. He's not the worst driver of the last few years, but having that seat reserved for him keeps other drivers out that deserve a shot. Because of that they cannot be a true front runner.

Seeing Alex Palou is in the frame for the open Audi seat. I think that's an excellent choice; way better than keeping Bottas or Zhou.

He's the worst driver to continually keep his seat. Other blokes have gotten a shot, not panned out, and the team has moved on. Aston Martin just has a seat reserved for the guy who doesn't seem to really want to be there.

Lance's dad bought the team just so he has a seat. No other team would consider him. It will be curious if Newey builds them a championship caliber car and dad could have a pairing like Alonso and Verstappen to actually win it. Know Alonso is still unbelievably elite but he even acknowledges time is catching up with him. But, man o man would it be fun to watch Fernando and Max head to head in a Newey car.

Edit: seems real that Verstappen really could leave Red Bull unless Horner is sacked. Whatever Horner did with that scandal (like the the straw that broke the camels back), it's chasing all their top talent away.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason I don't like Alex Palou in Indycar, so I wouldn't be sad to see him go. Maybe I'll like him more at Audi F1.

F1 Academy podium hat secured! Got the Miami podium hat as well. Surprisingly no US retailers have them, only found 2 EU and a couple from Mexico that would only ship domestic. Pirelli is doing a denim one for Austin.
