I somehow took the top spot, but 2-4 was a close one!

Holy cow. I didn't see how close 2-4 were yesterday when I checked the standings.

I haven't looked at my team since March and finished top 10 lol. That's better strategy than Ferrari. That's how we roll

Some nice discounts on fuelforfans for Black Friday. Always the better time to buy F1 merch (specially if you are outside Europe like all of us lol)

Does third driver = reserve driver?

Seems like an interesting choice of words.

Not exactly.

Quote:

But it does not mean the 33-year-old will be the official reserve driver for Red Bull and AlphaTauri as back-up to Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, with Auto Motor und Sport's Tobi Gruner saying on Twitter that will be Liam Lawson who took part in Abu Dhabi FP1 for Red Bull.

Gruner also tweeted that "Helmut Marko has confirmed to [Sky Germany] that Ricciardo will be third driver next year at Red Bull. Contract with Sergio Perez runs until 2024."

A further quote, reported by Motorsport.com, from Marko read: "We have so many sponsors, we have to do show runs and the like, so of course he's one of the most high-profile and best suited."

However, should a substitute be required for Verstappen or Perez, it should be borne in mind that Lawson, the 20-year-old New Zealander, will be competing in the 2023 Super Formula season in Japan which runs on seven weekends between April and October.

Three of those clash with F1, which could therefore lead to Ricciardo stepping in at Red Bull if required.

What a clown show.

They would have outright canned him if it hadn't leaked early. Now they have to save face. It's like the sips, the incompetence starts at the top. The strategy blunders are prevalent throughout the whole organization.

He will probably try to resign but instead accidentally sign up for 2 more years because, well, Ferrari.

Hope he stays in the engineering side but he was definitely not a highlight as a team principal.

Hopefully SF has someone ready. Binotto was a big loss, he is one of the most experienced engineers in the entire grid.

SF reminds me of that school in Austin. I agree Binotto was a big loss. SF could have handled this differently.

I remember watching that and think I for sure just saw someone die in a wreck. Thankfully I was on a one hour delay and was able to see that he was in fact alive.

Italian F4 is likely going to have 2 Ferrari backed female drivers. Laura Camps won last year but she only had karting experience so made no sense to fund an F4 seat right away (especially in the Italian series), but Aurelia has F4 experience so I am really really hoping both are on the same grid next year. Would be sweet to see them in Iron Dames and have Maya Weug in FRECA.

No surprise there. That's been the rumor for the last few weeks. Even a few bloggers stated it will. It happen.
Now we have a month break a few races into the year.

Think they'll replace it? Portugal?

Oh yeah that would make more sense.
Or keep 23 races, no harm in that either.

I can't say I understand going Austin, Mexico, Brazil, Las Vegas. Why not Austin, Mexico, Las Vegas, Brazil to save on travel?

Cancelling China GP is 10000% the right move. They probably should never have a race there again but at least not while they continue COVID games....

Funny how no one cared about COVID lockdowns in 2020 and 2021...it's only now that lockdowns are seen as inhumane and unnecessary.

Yeah, and there is a dedicated forum to discuss that on TexAgs. Please keep that discussion there, or politics, or general, or wherever else fits.

Seemed pertinent to the tweet I replied to, but I'll stick to F1 going forward.

Nothing wrong with discussing it, as it pertains to F1.

Think of all the hoops they jumped through, to be Covid complaint, just to have a race season last year...and now?...canceling because it's too strict.

It's really interesting how much things have flipped for F1, and other sports around the world.
