Personally I never cared for Mick. It took him 2 seasons in F3 and 2 in F2 and he never scored a single pole in F2 (and he was in a Prema). If anything he won in a field full of rookies and a Callum Ilott that made too many mistakes. He was definitely nowhere as good as the likes of Leclerc, Norris, Russell, or Piastri.

Some cool stuff feederwise:
-Juan Manuel Correa is back in F2. He was the other driver involved in the fatal accident of Anthoine Hubert. He had several surgeries to avoid amputation of both of his legs, ran F3 in 2021 and this year, so it's so good to see him back in F2 next year.
-Eurocup 3 announced which would be a next step after regional F4. I guess it's a FRECA but spanish (4 rounds in spain and 4 in EU). No idea if it is FIA regulated like FRECA.
-They are announcing a new all-female series tomorrow in Abu Dhabi backed by F1. Should be the replacement of W Series. Goal is to make it an F4 and have drivers half fund their seat. I hope they share weekends with F1. Would be great to see the young W Series drivers in it as well as younger talent like Chloe Grant, Aurelia Nobels, Liona Theobald, Laura Camps Torres. Make it a true F3 feeder with young talent and solve the problem W Series had with many of their grid being too old for F3.

It sounds like Danny Ric isn't going to be their actual reserve driver as they have a young driver in that role. According to what I read he's going to be in more of a test/development role and a marketing role driving a red bull car at lots of their PR and sponsor events. He probably won't be with the team on race weekends.

I finally watched the race. I don't know, I think the Red Bull situation is being blown out of control. Is Max a dick? yes. Was he in the wrong? Yes. But seems this kind of drama is pretty normal in F1. These guys are where they are because they're dicks and competitive.

I feel like there was some of this the last few years between Bottas and Hamilton.

Hell, Leclerc was arguing for Sainz to let him pass him, giving up a podium position. That was probably a bigger wtf to me.

Yes there's teammate rivalry on every team. Nico and Lewis racing for the championship all season was dripping with drama. What Max did to Sergio was next level.

It was the next to last race after Max had already clinched the championship with Sergio TIED for 2nd place in points.

I haven't seen anything quite like what Max did this past weekend and I've seen a bunch of stuff between teammates the past 10 years.

Max's explanation that it was payback for something that happened like 15 races ago in MAY was even more of a WTF.

Would still say leclerc pleading with his team to have sainz give up a podium and let him pass was worse. But nobody cares about that.

Maybe but you're comparing apples to oranges. Max not following team orders so he can get ???? (payback? I don't know) is way different than Leclerc asking to pass and not.

A least that is understandable that Leclerc is begging to pass (but didn't) because Leclerc is battling Perez for 2nd in the Driver's Championship.

What was Max going for?

I dont know. If it's true, what he was mad at....that's pretty next level as well.

At that time, they were both at the top of the grid, and vying for the top spot. Sergio went on to win it. To screw your teammate like that would tick off most drivers.

Not saying Max should hold a grudge, but I also understand why he'd be pretty ticked.

Yeah seems like Liam Lawson is the official reserve for Red Bull and Alpha Tauri. Had Vips never been canceled he would be for Red Bull and Liam would have AT duties.

Leclerc also hates Binotto (like everybody else) so I don't mind that he asked for that position when Ferrari has screwed him plenty of times this whole year and all he wants now is to finish P2

Pretty impressing they got quali going in time considering F2 was delayed and just finished like 20 mins ago lol

Lewis avoids a grid penalty.

Data from Hamilton's car showed that he lifted the throttle completely when the red light was show and applied firm braking pressure, but there was still a speed difference of 162 km/h between the two cars.

"It is our conclusion that the driver of Car 44 took every reasonable action to comply with the regulations in that he immediately reduced speed in a safe manner at the earliest opportunity upon the first indication of the red light," said the stewards.

Although they recognised it was still technically a breach of the International Sporting Code that forbids overtaking under a red flag, the stewards said Hamilton "could not avoid overtaking Car 20 [Magnussen] in this case and therefore the stewards determine to apply no penalty."

That's great. Even more reason to go back. Love to see more racing.

Right. I feel this news just made Austin more exciting than Miami lol

Watching F2 now. Sargeant seems safe to end in P3 so far. Going to miss a lot of the talent on this grid, not the most competitive season but I enjoyed a lot of it... hope Liam Lawson does well in Super Formula next year, would definitely love to see him in Alpha Tauri in 2024 or 2025.

Logan has now been told via radio he is going to Formula 1. Finally, a US driver on the Formula 1 grid once again!

Let's hope he impresses more than Rossi and Speed did in their stints. I'm not sure he's ready, but I dont think he'll do any worse than Latifi.

Great season but got a little dull towards the end with some much already decided. Looking forward to next year. Will feel like a long few months.

Set the alarm and then slept right through it.
Anything exciting about Seb's race? I see he finished in the points.
I don't really have a favorite driver but if I did it would be Vettel.

He was on Danny Ric the last lap and if he had found a way to pass him it would have meant $12 million to the team in the constructor's points. Other than that he was pretty disappointed in the team strategy today.

Between them being very vocal on team work yesterday and then today.. it's evident RB is in damage control on the narrative

I really rate his junior career as great. Once he got ahold of the Carlin this year he started performing like hell. But, the jump from F2 to F1 is definitely a wild thing, and I don't expect him to be good right away. He also only spent one year in F2, unlike De Vries who spent 3.

What I dig is this is the guy that finished P3 in F3 in 2020, and somehow had financial issues that made him not go up to F2 and basically not progress through the ladder in 2021. Come COTA time and during the weekend Williams announces him as their new Academy driver, and a year later he becomes an F1 driver. Just an awesome story and something to be proud. So even if Williams is not the best team right now and the car is weak, they saved his career and got him into F2 and in exchange he delivered top rookie of the year and a fantastic season on par with Lawson

I feel like Alonso protected him a lot too. There were moments were he didn't even bother to fight him when he was on DRS zones. That was cool to see.
