Any insight why Ferrari kept telling Sainz to avoid the bumps in a few turns? Was it just general damage avoidance or was it something related to the new vertical oscillation directive?

Major assumption that the incompetent Ferrari duck sticks even understand the new vertical oscillation directive.

But would assume they heard about possible bumps from other teams because they are clueless.

Probably didn't have any softs left. McLaren has a major problem of railroading plans through and not having extra tires to pivot to.

I posted that immediately after the race finish; I had church and family stuff and didn't finish the race til last night. Immediately after pressing 'submit' they mentioned a five second penalty and I did the facepalm emoji because, "of course Ferrari would find a way to botch that."

That was fun to see Max come from the back of the grid to win. I would love too see 1 or 2 races on the calendar be that you race in the opposite order that you finished the next race. I think it would be fun and add more excitement to watch the frontrunners come from that far back. Max doesn't have to anymore engine penalties this year does he?

He can have as many engine penalties as the team wants him to take. Look at HAM last year with that new "spicy" engine in Brazil that he charged through the field with.

Hahahah Ferrari strategy this year is AWFUL. So many self inflicted strategy errors. Pitting Leclerc from the lead to hard tires a few races ago - where he finished 6th - was one of the worst. Incredible Ferrari hasn't made a personnel change with the strategy people.
I feel bad for Sainz and Leclerc. They've got to be fed up.

If that is the case, how does that happen. That would mean they didn't save any softs through qualifying to actually use on race day. That's some Ferrari level management there. I don't think they would be that blatant in trying to hose Danny, but wouldn't think anyone could be that stupid either.

i think they should do this with the sprint races. except make it reverse order of championship points rather than previous race. just cut loose and make it crazy as hell.
I like this idea. Would be great entertainment.

I like that idea even better than what I brought up. I think the sport will lose its luster if only 1 or 2 drivers have a shot at winning every week. DTS can only sustain viewership so long
