F1 Michael Andretti 2.0. Herta is fast but he can not manage the car, the tires or the race.
There are better American driver options out there.

What's up with Riccardo?

Has he fallen off? Is it the fit with the team/car? Seemed like they'd started to find something last year, but this year has been rough again.

I'm curious to see if he ends up at a mid to low team like Haas after 2023. I don't think he'll have a seat anywhere else.

I wouldn't be surprised if he retires if he doesn't get a new contract with McLaren.

Is Logan Sargent in the group of better American options?

Mclaren was pretty competitive last year. Obviously not championship level, but they were firmly in that second tier and both Lando and Riccardo were competing for podiums every week. This year is a different story…

Every week, of the first half of the season.

They quickly got passed by Ferrari.

To be fair, Lando finished 4 points behind Sainz and finished above Leclerc. Riccardo was way behind but Lando was definitely in the mix most weeks.

You said McLaren. They got beat pretty solid in the constructors. We're talking about how Riccardo is on the down

Some might enjoy these pics. I was a FIA Marshall at the Miami GP!

That's really cool. How does one get to be an FIA marshal and what did you get do?

better than Jak Crawford that for sure. F4 driver Ugo something (his last name is legitimately very hard to remember) that got signed by McLaren has shown lots of talent in British F4 this year, he won the first race

F1, F2, F3, and W Series this weekend. First weekend of the year with all 4 of those feeders on the same track. Going to be hard to find a time to sleep. Next time that happens will be at Silverstone.

Where do you typically watch F2, F3, and the W series? Is it on F1TV? Because I have that but have never really used it outside of F1 races, practices, and qualifying.

I think I saw some F2 and F3 races available to watch on ESPN+.

F2 and F3 on F1 TV Pro, available on demand as well. W Series is now being broadcasted on ESPN (gotta check if its 2 or 3).

Pretty interesting.

What if he goes to McLaren, and Ricardo goes to Alpha?

That makes those teams quite a bit older, but I could see that as a way for those teams to shore up some points in the short term.

I can't see a former-Red Bull driver going to the Young Red Bull team. Sort of goes against what I understand Alpha Tauri to stand for.

I tend to agree, mainly because of his age. It would be fun though.

Unfortunately we reached the point where we can't rule it out anymore. Happened to both Gasly and Kvyatt

Gasly went straight from RB to Toro Rosso, though...not Renault -> McLaren -> Alpha Tauri.

My point is: Ricciardo did not stay in-house, and as such, I don't see him coming back.

Pierre is interesting because I feel he's a good driver and could become better at Red Bull, but Max isn't leaving and Sergio is a great second driver and willing to play second fiddle when needed. Red Bull is stacked for as long as they want to be.

While I dont disagree, Riccardo might be running out of options. Tsunoda is unlikely to be renewed, so if the opportunity arose, I could see it making sense for both parties...even if it's just a short term solution.

Lol, so when Merc stopped being the top car, they started copying Red Bull.

But really, yes they are similar, but there are examples of other teams besides the known copycats at Racing Point Force India Aston Martin.

Considering Merc lost a BUNCH of engineers to Red Bull, it's not surprising.
