Willy T. Ribbs. I know why they wanted him to interview (first AA to test an F1 car) but that was so painful.

Miami seemed determined to trick everything up, and make it as close to an amusement park as possible.

Some of it was cool...a lot of it was cheesy

Leaning towards rooting for Sainz this year. We need to see a third constructor push Mercedes and Red Bull for podiums, and Ferrari seems to be the likely option. Sainz outperformed their chosen driver, LeClerc, and should continue to do so this season

Look at this idiot, LeClerc>>>>Sainz

After some days to reflect, I think the Miami GP achieved its purpose. I'm not sure it was ever meant to be great racing, especially for TV viewers. Instead, I think it was meant to be a wild festival of glamor, which it achieved.

Wrong or right, I'm not sure. But the WSJ reported on it and so have other big news sources. Hoping to catch the American market, the star studded paddock turned all eyes on Miami.

Another thought I had on Miami was the benefit of the time of the year for this race as opposed to COTA. COTA is typically run in mid-to-late October, which is right in the middle of NFL and College Football season. Practice sessions, quali, and the race are all in afternoon time slots which conflict with football. Also, ESPN and other sports networks are not able to devote as much time and resources to race weekend coverage. Miami allowed F1 to take center stage in a much grander fashion.

I agree. I want F1 to succeed in the US but it gets borderline cringe when they invite celebrities that don't give a single f about the sport or even give 20 seconds of their time to talk to Martin Brundle.

No wonder George Lucas goes to the EU races instead lol.

I cant put my finger on why Miami bothered me, but it just seemed like Miami was trying to one-up every other race their first time out.

I think it's a popular destination, and Im glad a race is there. Just maybe tone it down a notch or three.

It was a spectacle to say the least. I think F1 is taking a turn, in past years not many Americans could have gave a ****, F1 has become popular and the FIA knows it, so they have decided to capitalize on that by playing to Americas wishes. Celebrities, fan fare, gaudy over the top side acts etc…

It's Miami. It will never be toned down. Vegas will be the same.

Yep. And if they get a race in New York, it will be too.

It seems to water down the main attraction, and Im not sure it's all necessary for the sport over here. But maybe Im wrong.

And I'm not sure if it was a point made on here or elsewhere, but COTA is a race for the fans, whereas Miami is a business deal for Formula One.

What's up with Riccardo?

Has he fallen off? Is it the fit with the team/car? Seemed like they'd started to find something last year, but this year has been rough again.

Getting in a car that you know has less than 1% chance of winning eventually has to wear a driver down, even the overly smiling Riccardo.

I think he wishes Max could have ended up somewhere else other than Red Bull.
