That was the first episode in two seasons that wasn't any good.
There were so many funny lines in it. The demonization of smoking - "second hand heroin never killed anyone", Russ' response to Richard's rant is "First off, the is not ****ty tequila!", actually pretty much everything Russ did, Gilfoyle and Dinesh's response to the threat was we're all programmers, which basically makes us all *******. I thought it was all hilarious.

To each their own I suppose, but I thought tons of the jokes were great.

I'm blow away by the acting ability of Richard. His facial expressions, mannerisms, lack of eye contact, etc. are exceptional. I'm sure this guy isn't like this in real life, but we would never know. The tequila shot scene plus when he was meeting with the porn executive, those were classic scenes.
I think I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but the episode of the Nerdist podcast with him is worth listening to just because of how different he is than his character. It was like a toned down version of one of those coked out Robin Williams interviews. He's definitely an improv comic.

I think my favorite was the exchange between Ehrlich and Monica.

"You've basically made a perfect app for pedophiles"

"Yes... and they aren't typically early adapters, so unfortunately we'll miss out on that market..."

That was hilarious. Classic, oblivious to good taste Erlich, sees pedophiles as a business opportunity.

Richard is played by Thomas Middleditch. He is a hilarious, nerdy, talented improv comic and I have been a big fan for a while. He usually pretty different than his SV character in most performances.

Here are some clips that he did with College Humor's Jake and Amir over the years:

someone that understands this stuff better than me, tell me how they could have been deleting this stuff off of Intersite's servers? why would their not be backups until after they have successfully shown they can compress it?

Especially just by hitting a delete key. And why did the delete key lock everyone out of their stations?

Not a complaint. Love the show, but that seemed REALLLY unrealistic.

Well I didn't think texags could be taken down by a book on a keyboard but mkf proved me wrong.

A few years ago, a poster was able to shut down texags with a dos attack. I don't think it was his intention, but more of a proof of concept experiment. Anyways, all he did was take a book, balance it on the keyboard, and go to lunch. the book caused a continuous refresh and it overwhelmed the site

I have no idea if this is what happened, but I think they were doing an FTP drop which meant that they were uploading the direct files from the servers to Pied Piper's servers. When the files were appearing as lines of string in the DOS boxes, the 'delete' button being stuck meant that those files were being deleted as they were being directly transferred. The reason everyone was locked out was because they were all wired together and with one computer already creating an 'input' in the commands, no other commands could register until that one was done.

Again, this is a complete guess and I'm sure someone with actual knowledge will blast this apart.

As for not backing up the files, I have no idea why that didn't occur.

They were so worried about Seth cyber skull f******g their system when the download was going on -

While they were searching kernel modules I thought Seth was going to roll up the garage door and go 'Falling Down' on the servers.

That episode wasn't bad, but it wasn't the funniest.

I think we are starting to see an overload of characters. They are simultaneously trying to develop multiple new characters while giving screen time to all of the established ones, while also trying to maximize the one liners from the main crew. The episodes just aren't long enough. There should never be an episode where Jared barely says anything.

Getting rid of the Asian kid would be a very good step 1.

I never bought that story. The keyboard buffer would have filled long before any thing fell down.

He wrote or used a scripted that made http:// get requests in spawned threads and had buyers remorse after he got banned.

The only part I didn't buy was that they would have lost the contract over deleting "hundreds" of hours of premium content. I mean we are talking about porn here. There's like 57 of them shooting RIGHT NOW. Lack of content isn't a big hit to porn. If their algorithm did what they promised they would still be the better choice and the company couple regenerate that content over one long weekend in Mexico.

I got a laugh when Richard bragged about his compression algorithm, and how it was so fast that they could also delete things faster than anyone else.

Thought it was fitting that the *****er sabotaged their chances to land a big contract by setting down a bottle of tequila that he created to glorify himself, to take the boys outside to show them the car that he gift-wrapped as a present....to himself.
