Apparently everybody has now decided that they definitely need to eat loads of eggs. My cousin is even trying to rationalize her purchases because they eat so many eggs in their home. People are crazy.
We aren't big egg people, maybe a dozen a month. Went ahead and picked up a dozen because of the kid. Pancakes are a fun breakfast she can "help" with and also loves to "help" make cookies. Good way to kill time, have fun, and make something to eat.
I'm sure others are hoarding but that was our thought process.
We average about one dozen a week in our home, and I am usually the primary consumer. Bought a dozen last Wednesday, and I am almost out.
As other have noted, the three HEBs closest to our house are pretty much out of a lot of staples - eggs, milk, bread, potatoes, ground meat (and almost all other meats), not to mention all the other dry goods discussed.
We started slowly stocking up on canned goods about a month ago ( soups, tuna, chili, etc). Haven't dipped into it, but I am glad we have it.
People are losing their GD minds.
