I think they have to separate though. If it's actually 8/9, we have to get the nod for that road series win. It'll need to be not next to each other. So they need to pass Auburn and probably bama too. Basically, I think they need to win it all.

This only matters if the SEC win total is similar, imo. If we exit early, they are at least +2 on us which I'm guessing is enough to overcome the h2h.

all right, surveying the damage...and now looking at the likely 9 thru 16 hosts...

perhaps in this order:

9. Southern Miss
10. FSU
11. Nebraska
12. A&M
13. Kansas
14. West Virginia
15. Arkansas
16. State

with Oregon still in the mix

the Hogs won 2/3 vs. State

Rough night but I'd be shocked if we fall all the way to 12.

Too 8 is not dead…but it's on life support. I'm still not convinced Southern Miss is going to get one. If Florida loses today I think you can still paint the picture that we're ahead…especially since we beat them in their house.

A lot still to figure out! I'm on vacation with spotty internet but will try to update my op as I'm able

We are going to get seeded wherever they can match us playing the Super vs t.u. In Austin

This hasn't happened in 26 years of this current format. We only got sent to each other's regionals twice in the years we were in separate conferences and i can only think of one time when regional pairings would have made this happen in years one of us didn't host. We did get sent to the same regional once when neither of us hosted. Now that everyone is seeded 1-32 that ultimately means geography is less important and thats the argument for even doing it.

This narrative in baseball is the epitome of BAS.

the Ags have slid down to #14 in RPI

which opens the door for the teams still playing in their tournaments or conference champions to pass them

the committee can tinker as they want

the only hope is DSR
W

the sips are currently #5 in RPI and #6 in DSR

which makes the #5 or #6 overall seed very reasonable for t.u.

yes, DSR is A&M's best metric

But it's not our only metric. Series victory at Gainesville and third place conference finish will also work in our favor. Will it be enough? No way to know until Monday.

Call me Negative Nancy but I think our only hope of hosting a Super is to win our regional and hope that the one seed we are matched up against looses their regional.

Yes, but at the beginning of the season we would have taken hosting a regional. This team over achieved despite bad pitching. No way we are top 8 though. Earley is going to have to stack some quality pitching depth. I am not sure why we did not try the young guys more, there was nothing to lose.

This. If it were me, Hunter Vincent would be pitching every week. I'd run him out there and give him a chance to have some success because when that kid is confident, he has Friday starter stuff. I just hope he doesn't portal out due to lack of innings.

As long as it looks like Partida and Sims will be ready for the regional there's really not much on the injury front to hurt us. With a healthy Partida the only change is whether Royo or Hacopian plays 2B while their DH.

Kendall Rogers updated his projections. We're sitting at 10, paired with Bama. UTSA and Cincy are the 2/3. He also stated that he can see how Bama being left out and us sneaking in the top 8 would be the only surprise he sees happening. Very volatile. UF is gonna be in.

This would be the first time in decades of watching Aggie baseball that the committee would give so much weight to the conference tourneys. And it is not just us. Sips and Auburn changed places.

I'm guessing because there is more parity in the SEC this year. A lot of teams clumped together for a few seeding spots.

That game 3 cancellation against Texas and Gavin strike call against Auburn are screwing us. We win those and we are a national seed lock.

I think we will win our regional and then we match up well with whoever is in the supers. I'm not overly worried. It's been a fun season. Postseason won't be any different

This. Pretty much every year there's talk about how the conference tournaments shape the seeding. And pretty much every year it does not. Years we've played well and expected a bump. Nope. Years we've played poorly and expected a drop. Nope.

I mean. I'm get it. Conference tournaments are going on and we have to discuss but it doesn't usually change the resume.

I think yall are overestimating the impact of a single game. TU got crushed by Arkansas. Are they dropping to a 7 or 8 seed? Nope. The national sites I've looked at still have us as a 6,7 or 8 seed. They have pretty much decided I think and I don't expect much change based on this weeks games.

Pig has gone from being the 4th team out of hosting to the 15 seed after beating UT and tu. Mind boggling how the conference tournament went from basically meaningless to very VERY meaningful.

You do know these are only projections? Sites like D1 Baseball are fairly good at this but only the selection committee knows what metrics it is going to emphasize from year to year.

tu wasn't on the top 8 bubble. We are right on the edge, and of teams clustered up at 2-5 in the SEC we have the poorest metrics... it's not one game in a vacuum, it's Florida creating enough of a gap in SEC total wins such that our h2h series win as de facto tiebreaker doesn't come into consideration.

so Georgia Tech and North Carolina both reach the ACC title game

that should push t.u. down to the #5

and then let's see how far Auburn goes in the tournament
