For anyone wondering what the "limit" on SEC national seeds might be…remember just last year there were 6 in the top 8 and 2 more in the 9-16 range. That "cap" that was an unspoken rule for so long might be a thing of the past.

LSU now tied with Florida 4-4. Tiger win would probably give us 3 more Quad 1 wins and knock Florida down a notch.

FYI a national seed is the top 16 hosting sites, not the top 8.

I think everyone on here considers top 8 the national seeds.

Yeah. It's not. I know they "seed" 1-16. But first, everyone knows what it means. And second, they're close to seeding 1-32. Are you going to get your panties in a wad about the 25 "seed" not being called a "national seed"?

And with this post, one star privs is activated...

another note...

Florida lost its series to Alabama
Florida lost its series to A&M

Gators went 1-5 vs. the Tide and Ags

so in a 3-way comparison among UF, A&M, and Bama -- Gators lose the head-to-head results badly

On the broadcast today they kept talking the top 16 national seeds and even showed a graphic.

Are you saying that 1-32 will be called national seeds now? I didn't realize that if so

I always enjoy the semantical arguments every year. Because when you assume everyone understands, every year….

This is a "well technically" type of post. "National seed" meant top 8 from the 90s until 2018, when they finally started seeding 9-16 as well.

Most people mean still mean top 8 when discussing this point, since that's what means you host Supers if you win the Regional.

I think this is a great argument against your point. No one is going to talk about 32 national seeds with this change. Same exact reasoning as to why very few talk about top 16 this way, despite NCAA and ESPN efforts to pump the hype train.

Everyone else has already said it, but yeah I assure you I know that they seed more than 8 teams, if it wasn't clear by the big seed list in the OP.

Just in case anyone is new to this or curious, and for clarity's sake, a lot of people will refer to the top 8 seeds as "national seeds" because that's all that was actually seeded for a long time.

Perfect. And in 3 years when those nancies expand the postseason to 80 or some stupid number it will still be 8.

Can we please get back to what # we think the Ags will be ?

What team that are behind us might be ahead of us when 1-16 is announced ?

Does winnings couple of games at Hoover matter ?

Who are we likely going to play in those 2 games ?
RED AG 98

I don't think Hoover will matter for us. I guess it's possible that a deep run or winning it would improve our seeding a spot or two but unlikely. And I don't think it can hurt us.

We're down to RPI 11 now that today's SEC games have completed; there are still a few more other games ongoing.

Florida jumped us and is up to 10. We have 1 more win and won that series h2h so I think we get the nod over them.

It's the B10 and ACC schools that have me now worried. Spots 6-14 are all pretty close.

I think we end up somewhere in the 7-9 range. Right on the bubble of a "national seed" and chance to host Supers.

Just eyeballing the RPI and 1-16 projections before the weekend it looks like Oklahoma St. is in the 25-28 pod that would match as the 2 with the 5-8 national seeds Texas and A&M likely are at for the moment.

Geographically the Cowboys would likely be sent to either over the others in OSU's grouping.

Adjusting the brackets based on tournament results is extra work for the committee and the results are generally ignored
With the log jam at 2-6 in the SEC This might be the year for those guys to actually work late and tweak the brackets based on neutral site games between teams that are very close in the rankings

but probably not going to happen
W
How long do you want to ignore this user?

another perspective...

if the committee has the longhorns at #4, there's no way A&M could be the #9

the difference in resumes is not worthy of a 5-spot separation

using the DSR...

the horns' top 3 series wins:

#6 Auburn
#9 State
#15 Ole Miss

the Ags' top 3 series wins:

#5 texas
#9 State
#12 Florida

This is where I'm at. I'll guess 8, but would not be surprised with +1 or -1 from that seed. I don't think Hoover will change that regardless if it's 0-1 or 3-0.

I'm at about a 95% confidence we will be a top 8 seed next Monday. I'll have a new seed list/breakdown sometime tomorrow once all the metrics are fully updated.

I don't think Hoover is going to matter a ton, but if you're looking for 100% confidence, winning one more would do it.

We will be somewhere in the 9-16 range, paired with Austin. Take it to the bank.

No way, if we don't get a top 8 we'll be really close and paired up with either the 7 or 8 seed…horns will be a higher seed than that

After this week, sips will not be lower than the 6, but very likely much closer to 4 with an outside shot at 3. There is next to zero chance that we are seeded anywhere from 11 to 14. I agree they want that match up to happen any way possible, its just not possible at this point and would 100% show the game was rigged.

I'll take it to the bank that we are not matched up with Austin.

t.u. with a 3? In what universe do they get a 3. UCLA the 1, Ga Tech the 2 and likely NC with the 3. No way t.u. jumps GA so at best a 5.
