CHAMPS! Aggie women's tennis claims second national championship

For the second time in three years, Mark Weaver’s Aggies are national champions.

Along with five straight trips to the Elite Eight, it seems a dynasty is emerging in Aggieland.

Texas A&M’s second national title was secured on Sunday evening in Athens, Georgia, when the fourth-seeded Ags took down No. 2 seed Auburn, 4-1, at the Magill Tennis Complex.

A year ago, a bid to repeat as champions fell one match short in a loss to Georgia.

In 2026, the Aggies barked back, eliminating the Bulldogs on Saturday before winning another war with War Eagle to claim college tennis’ ultimate prize.

Weaver & Co. dog-piled as champions in Stillwater, Okla., in 2024, and now, it has happened again as A&M stands alone on the mountaintop.

Reaching this particular summit this spring might’ve seemed unlikely, but not for Weaver’s dreamers.

Yes, Mary Stoiana graduated after the 2025 campaign. Yes, Nicole Khirin was out of commission with an injury. Yes, they struggled in doubles play.

But with undefeated and top-ranked Lucciana Perez leading the way, these Aggies stood tall in every fight and in every ring, and now they’ve won another.

This championship puts A&M on a short list of seven schools that have won multiple national championships in women’s tennis, joining Stanford (20), Florida (7), Texas (4), Georgia (3), Southern Cal (2) and UCLA (2).
