Lloyd Gideon Johnson House
San Marcos, Texas

Local banker Lloyd G. Johnson and his wife Katherine built this house as a residence for their family in 1919-1920. The house, designed by noted architect Atlee B. Ayres, combines informal elements of the Mediterranean style with classical detailing and a formal, symmetrical plan. San Marcos Masonic Lodge No. 342 bought the house in 1937. It served as a lodge building until 1990, when it was purchased for use again as a private residence.

Best Moments of 2024 Countdown:

9. Justin Lamkin's Gem Leads the Aggies to a Series Win over #21 Mississippi State

Game 3 of the series against Mississippi State at Olsen was a huge one. The Aggies were sitting at 2-3 in SEC play after dropping a hard-fought series in Gainesville and splitting the first two against the Bulldogs, including being held to just one run in game two. While the Saturday finale was not a must-win to make the tournament, it felt extremely necessary to keep the momentum moving forward heading further into the SEC gauntlet. Justin Lamkin was up to the task, tossing a career-high 7.1 innings while surrendering just one run and striking out 12. Braden Montgomery homered twice, and Evan Aschenbeck slammed the door, needing just 19 pitches to get the final five outs in a 6-1 Aggie victory.

8. Ted Burton Walks Off Auburn to Complete the Sweep
Date: March 30, 2024

Auburn limped into Olsen Field with a 1-5 SEC record, but gave the Aggies all they could handle throughout the three game series. The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the series finale, but A&M battled back and held an 8-5 lead after five innings. Auburn would not go quietly, and the Tigers tied the game at 8 in the eighth and again at 9 in the ninth to send it to extra innings. Evan Aschenbeck pitched a perfect 10th inning, but was replaced by freshman Weston Moss for the 11th and 12th. Moss delivered one of his best performances of the season, striking out four and surrendering just one hit over the final two innings. That set up Ted Burton's walkoff opportunity in the bottom of the 12th, and Teddy delivered with a single through a drawn-in infield just before midnight.

Back when David McWilliams was the football coach in Austin, the sips were on the tail end of a long run of bad results in Waco. When asked why that was, McWilliams said something like, "I don't know, maybe it's passing through the Bruceville-Eddy Triangle."

We've got one week, Ags. Start packing your clear bags and don't forget a blanket. I don't care if it's been warm lately. Bring a blanket. Find your Whammy machine and test it out. Stock up on bubble juice. Practice your game face. This is your ONE WEEK WARNING.

And I had another Offseason Aggie Baseball dream last night! The baseball team was staying at my parents' house. They were all staying in the same bedroom. No, my parents do not have a huge bedroom capable of housing 40 boys. Dreams are weird. I went in there and saw a cockroach. There were a couple of the boys in there and I told them they needed to take care of that. They started trying to smash it, but were doing a poor job, so I went to get a vacuum cleaner. I told them that this is the best way and then used the hose attachment to suck up the cockroach. Then there were a lot of cockroaches and we went around sucking them into the vacuum.

I. I don't know.

7. Aggies Sweep #6 Vanderbilt, Move to #1 in the Rankings
Dates: April 12-14, 2024

I don't know about everyone else, but this weekend in particular was what flipped me from thinking "this team is pretty good" to "this is a legitimate national championship contender". It wasn't just the fact that the Ags won all three games, they dominated the #6 Vandy Boys from the jump. The pollsters agreed, and the Aggies moved up to the consensus number one spot the following Monday.

Friday Night: Jace LaViolette and Braden Montgomery both homered twice, and Ryan Prager tossed a (shortened) complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead the Ags to a 15-0 run-rule victory in seven innings.

Saturday Night: The Ags refused to let up, and jumped on Vandy for five runs in the first inning. Tanner Jones pitched 7.1 shutout innings before giving way to Evan Aschenbeck, who retired the final five batters in order. Aggies win, 9-0.

Sunday Afternoon: Vandy raced out to a 4-0 lead in second inning, but as they did so many times throughout the 2024 season, the Aggie lineup responded. Nine unanswered runs, highlighted by a six-run fifth inning that included homer runs from Gavin Grahovac and Ali Camarillo, proved to be the difference. Chris Cortez was borderline untouchable in relief, tossing 4.1 innings of shutout ball with eight strikeouts before giving way to Evan Aschenbeck to close out the final three innings of a 12-6 win.

On the other hand, POS pitched for Elon so it has that black mark against them.
