SH 68 was proposed in 2013 but as far as I can tell, never built.

The Berclair Mansion in Berclair, Texas, doesn't look like a haunted house from the wrought-iron gate.

It's a beautiful 22-room, 10,000-square-foot house built in 1936 with a manicured lawn and a fountain at the front entrance. Etta Terrell built the mansion in the tiny community, about halfway between Beeville and Goliad, after inheriting the family fortune. She died in the house in 1956.

Miss Etta's earlier home was destroyed by fire, so she built this one primarily out of steel and concrete to be fireproof. She and her four spinster sisters occupied the stately home until the last one died in 1968. The house's furnishings, including antiques from the 1700s, are pretty much as the sisters left them. In 1999, the family heirs donated the house to the Beeville Art Association as a museum.

That's when things started getting spooky. Maintenance workers reported seeing elderly women waving to them from the dark windows. Volunteers heard voices and doors close in the empty house. The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported that the Corpus Christi Spook Central's paranormal investigation recorded 20 unexplained voices in one night.

Carson County Square House Museum

The Niedringhaus brothers of St. Louis sent lumber by ox-cart from Dodge City and built this square house on their "N Bar N" Ranch here in Carson County in the mid-1880s. In 1887 a railroad official occupied the pioneer cottage while the Southern Kansas Railway was being extended from Kiowa, Kansas, to Panhandle City. This was later the home of some distinguished settlers: pioneer banker and treasurer of Southern Kansas Railway Company, James Christopher Paul; rancher-judge J. L. Harrison; innkeeper James B. Wilks; and Sheriff Oscar L. Thorp. The oldest house in town, it was purchased in 1965 and restored as the Carson County Museum

And I come to you with another off-season Aggie baseball dream! This one is very short. I drove into the Olsen lot to park (lol, you know it must be a dream because I could never qualify for Olsen lot parking), and they had repainted the parking spaces. The spaces were a lot narrower. So narrow that not even normal-sized cars could park in them without the tires touching the lines. This was ostensibly done so that they could have more spaces in the Olsen lot, but people were very upset.

Fred & Juliette Turner Mansion (Now the Museum of the Southwest)
Midland, Texas
Near and dear to my heart and my family, who have known both these wonderful families - Turner & Durham

Built in 1936
HISTORIC TURNER MANSION
The Turner Legacy Galleries are an exhibition space telling several stories, all centered around the Turner family. Three spaces were set aside in the Historic Turner Mansion and devoted to the story of Midland, the history of the house and the relationship between the family and the Kentucky Derby.
In the former guest room, the tales of the equestrian pursuits of the Turner, Durham, and Scharbauer families are explored featuring the two Kentucky Derby Trophies won by the families in 1959 and 1987. The library showcases the Mansion and the Turners' time spent in the home with an interactive scrapbook and a scale model of the house. Additional informative panels throughout the Mansion provide context and background about the house and its importance to their family life. The solarium details a larger story of Midland with other notable historic structures and a brief timeline of Midland's history.

Fun Fact: the statue in the first picture is one of R.C. Gormans first statues...it is a group of Navajo women surrounding a newborn baby in a papoose to protect it from harm. It was once inside the museum, but because of its immense weight it began to warp the floor, so it was moved outside.

At old Kyle Field we would need 10, because 6 to 7 would be broken.

John Filmore Linney House

John Filmore Linney (1853-1924) and his wife Virginia (Lum) Linney (1854-1946), were both members of pioneer Texas families. His father, Col. John Linney had this house built for the couple in 1876, just two years after their marriage. John F. and Virginia Linney, who reared eight children in this house, continued to reside in it until their deaths. Relocated in 1948 from its original location in the southeast part of town to a lot on Oak Street, it was moved to this site in 1986. Now a part of the county museum, it serves as a reminder of early South Texas vernacular architecture.
