I know that road well. I lived their my middle school years. I was a Northwest Texan until we became the Pike Panthers when I was in 8th grade. My daddy still lives in the area.

Texas Historical Marker 169

Little House is a historic house in Victoria, Texas, that was built circa 1896. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. I ok It was deemed to be an "exceptional local example of a Victorian-era residence". Its Victorian features include asymmetrical massing and an octagonal turret on its second floor. It was listed on the National Register as part of a group of historic Victoria resources.

Surprisingly, the worst cell phone reception of any courthouse where I've had a case. Halfway between Bowie and Nocona, the cell coverage here just sucks.

SH 169 was canceled in 1932, reused for a proposed route in Austin in 1989, and canceled again in 1990 as the deal with the City of Austin fell through.

I worked ten years in Kingsville and can attest that Texas A&I will make a name come back if the school ever gets funding independent of an A&M/UT source.

I almost died on the highway shown above that goes into the campus.
Was traveling back from a chess tournament in San Antonio, riding in the front seat of a car driven by Dr Lou Thurston (math prof) when I saw a carload of crazy kids was going to run the stop light at high speed. I yelled STOP and he barely did - our bumper actually scraped their car as it roared past going out of town.

Used to get the fried flounder - that is a very mild, good fish unless it has been frozen in which case it quickly turns mushy. Thier's was right out of Baffin Bay.

H. P. Luckett House is a Queen Anne style house located in Bastrop, Texas. The 14-room house was built around 1892 for Dr. H.P. Luckett, a prominent citizen who had practiced medicine in the town for almost 50 years. The structure was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on December 22, 1978, and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 2011.

I wish they'd stream fall ball. I'd be happy if they just turned on the camera in front of the press box. Ambient ballpark sounds are good enough for audio.
