Would go well with the old engineering buildings on campus.
That looks a lot like the old Travis County Courthouse that was built in 1930.
That was the style for government buildings at the time.
Tried to get a photo of the old Travis Co Bldg but ran into problems with
everything being attached to videos explaining why the Feds bought it.

I retract my statement from yesterday and state that "If A&M had an on-campus courthouse, *this* is what it would look like."

I think both statements are correct.

This is what it would look like if built in the early 1900s.

The other is what it would look like if built / rebuilt in the 60s or 70s.

SH 210 was proposed in 1993 but never built, which made my hunt for it on a Houston map rather fruitless! Shame, because I got excited, seeing it was supposed to end close to Union Station and I thought maybe I could get a pic with Minute Maid Park in it, a venue the Aggies will be playing in next year. Alas!

This description also was not helpful, as it appears the highway in fact runs along Hines St. Just an all around hard road to find.

Texas Historical Marker #209
Ross-Carroll House in Brenham, Texas

About 1899, Mary (Dwyer) Ross built this house on land she inherited from her father, Thomas Dwyer. Built of cypress, the Queen Anne style house features Victorian ornamentation in its open tower, a second level porch with horseshoe arches, and jigsawn friezes and brackets. Mary's daughter Matilda (Ross) Carroll inherited the house in 1941, and it remained in the family until 1970.

Plenty of parking. That's a really large square (the jail building you see in the background is also on the square). Albany is an interesting town. There are several big ranches headquartered there. They turned an old jail into an art museum that includes a Picasso. They put on a musical every summer that tells the history of the town and nearby Fort Griffin, called the "Fort Griffin Fandangle." Worth checking out if you are in the area the last two weekends in June.

Aaaannnnd it's that time again for off-season Aggie baseball dreams! I actually had one a week or so ago, but forgot to write about it the next morning and so I have forgotten entirely what the dream entailed. Ain't that the way.

Anyway. Last night I dreamed I was at my parents' house. I came downstairs in the morning for breakfast and Schloss was in the room off the kitchen talking on his phone. I was annoyed to see him there, but it made sense, since I was hosting a regional and his team was playing in the first game that day. So I just ignored him and went to make some oatmeal. When I was done, he came over to the microwave (still on his phone), and asked if he could use it. Annoyed and a little surprised that he would even talk to me, I said, "uh... yeah...". He put a cup of coffee in there to heat up. I went to the kitchen table to eat. Schloss was on his phone to one of his players and was talking about a visual representation of some statistic or other, and I was just sitting there thinking "You idiot. You can't convey a visual medium like a chart or graph over the phone."

Then I woke up. Weird dream. And I would appreciate it if my subconscious would refrain from putting Schloss in my dreams in the future. Thanks. Also, where was I hosting this regional? In my parents' backyard?? Like what???
