I put all the baby stuff we hadn't given away yet on the curb yesterday. All picked up before 5. I've got bags of clothes to put out there today.

Looks nasty. Needs a powerwash badly, and I'm guessing the inside is one of those old buildings that's been remodeled so many times it's got weird nooks and crannies and cut off areas. Those are actually a lot of fun to investigate.

It really doesn't look large enough to handle a population of 1.2 million people.

It's Austin. What do you expect.

Nasty jail vibes.

It probably isn't large enough. I bet there is a giant, ugly courthouse annex somewhere to pick up the slack.

SH 226 was canceled in 1940 and changed to SS 95. Shame, because the description is cool.

This one is very familiar to me.

Did I plan to get a giant American flag in the picture for today? Uh... let's just say that I did and that I'm that good. Yeah. Let's say that.

Happy Independence Day!!

Fun fact about the Wilco courthouse, it is the place of the first successful prosecution of the KKK.

If you even get a chance to see You Can't Do That, Dan Moody!, do it! It's performed in the actual courtroom where the trial took place.

Interestingly enough, state highway 225 is likely the road that you would take out to visit this monument, and the portion from I-610 to SH 146 is called Texas Independence Highway.

We have a very nice independence theme going on here on Independence Day!

I always liked the San Jacinto monument because you could see it from I-10. It was my real life connection to history when I was a little kid. All of the Revolutionary War stuff took place thousands of miles away, but I could see the San Jacinto monument every time we drove to Houston (we lived in Beaumont).

I love it because I love Sam Houston. He was my first hero of Texas when I fell in love with history, and he has remained so. That monument reminds me of him, still, imposing, and a staple of the scenery and history forever. God bless Houston (the legendary man not the town)

Tell me about "Fall Ball". Is there a schedule? Is it open to public? Is like "play practice" where you run through your lines and the director stops you to have you focus on the changes needed then you back up and do it again?

Depends. We really don't know.

There will be a couple games open to the public. They are kinda like scrimmages. Usually announced the week of.

Practices. Who knows? There have been open ones in the past but I believe all this past fall were closed.

It's all going to depend on how Coach Earley wants to do it.

Thank y'all for including all the court houses. I haven't lived in Texas since 2016 and my favorite Christmas tradition was to drive to small Texas towns and see the town squares and courthouses all decorated for Christmas.

Miss it so much. Can't wait 'til next season

The Ace of Clubs House Bowie County, Texarkana, Texas

The house is distinctively shaped like a club, from a deck of playing cards, with three octagon-shaped wings and a fourth rectangular wing adjoining at a central octagon-shaped stair hall. The structure was built in 1885 as a private residence, in an Italianate Victorian architectural style. The design resulted in the house having 22 sides. The two-story house also features a 20-foot (6.1 m) tower and a spiral staircase.
