He also never took an OV, which makes him eligible.

Kid was very highly rated, but in watching Texas this year they were much better without him on the floor. He did not impress me much at all.
Curious to see if he gets a waiver or has to sit. He should have to sit, but who knows if the NCAA will actually enforce that. I imagine we see him end up back on the west coast.

What would the purpose of greyshirting be in basketball? I would assume he wouldn't play in the spring semester if he does greyshirt. I can see in football where coaches know the kid isn't going to play in the fall anyways. Gets the kid to head into spring practice ready to go and be available in the following fall but not sure why this would be good for basketball. Does sitting on the bench for half the season really going to be good for him? And it seems like in Buzz's program it would be actually kind of detrimental.

it would have to be for a full year in basketball. If there isn't a scholarship for him in the Fall there wouldn't be a scholarship for him in the spring either unless you had a midseason transfer.

I'm glad to see Abogidi cut his list down to 35 schools. Getting closer to a decision.

The way basketball rosters and transfers work grey-shirting isn't a thing. There is a 0.01% chance we are grey-shirting a basketball recruit. If he isn't worth a scholarship now why would you guarantee him a scholarship a year from now when he can go somewhere like a Southland school and prove himself worthy of a scholarship.

The only way I could see a grayshirting scenario is if his grades aren't good enough to enter A&M right away.
