Here is a 20 minute highlight video of LSU vs Arky in SECT semi-final a month ago. Henderson actually played 26 minutes for Arky in this game, so he's on the court a bunch in this vid. He had a couple of dunks in these highlights and 3-4 plays where you see him block or alter shots.

Gap, I realized I actually didn't post that LSU vs Arky game link. I fixed that post. I'd recommend watching that, cause Henderson is on the court a bunch in that one and is an SEC level game from just a month ago, if you are interested.

I think a realistic floor for Henderson would be about 8-10 minutes per game guy off the bench, who is always ready to play and is a plus defender and finishes his dunks when he has a point blank shot at the rim. If you get any more than that, he exceeded expectations.

he's sort of a Marlon Pompey guy off the bench. With Miller and the Canadian big man that would be a much more solid front court than what we had this year. Especially on the defensive end.

I think a lot of us already thought we had post players to play 8 minutes a game and were hoping to find one to be a major contributor (opposite Miller). Maybe Brown is ready to go, but big men usually take him and he is young (should be class of 2021 HS) and next year is his first season actually playing since he only played 2 games this year.

I don't think we had anyone like Henderson on our team this year. He is on the court to do everything but score. So, don't be looking for him for offense. Kind of reminds me of Marlon Pompey who was on some good A&M teams for Billy Gillispie and did the dirty work.

Wow, I didn't see your Pompey comparison until after I posted my comment making the Pompey comparison as well after scanning the LSU video.

Kind of interesting that two people pull that comparison of what is really a fairly obscure player in A&M basketball's past. Must be something to it.

When you were after a guy like Felder and you end up with Henderson it's a huge kick in the balls. Now maybe they have something up their sleeve for another inside player they plan to land. If that's the case and Henderson is second best inside player you bring in them yeah I'm ok with it. If he's the best big man they bring in from portal then there is no doubt the staff behind closed doors is not happy with how this all went.

yeah very similar build and athleticism. Neither with an ounce of offensive skill other than dunking. Energy, length, athleticism and defense. There's a spot of Henderson to get PT and help the team. I think we're all just disappointed we didn't make a big splash transfer yet with a guy who is going to be a dynamite offensive player for us.

to be fair, we already brought in a talented big man from the portal. He was just at mid term. Young and raw but still a guy who was a high priority for this staff for a long time back to his HS days.

In Buzz's system I'm much more concerned about getting some perimeter scoring help with the last 1 or 2 spots. I honestly think that post scoring is about priority #30 for Buzz when building his roster. He seems pretty content just getting some long athletic defenders and rebounders at the position.

Yep. Assuming McNeilly leaves, we have one more spot and hopefully we'll get an established scorer. Henderson seems more like a depth guy who might give us 10-15 minutes a night, get some rebounds, block some shots. Not a bad addition, just not someone who can elevate the program.

I'd for sure rather have Henderson than Marfo IMO. Marfo demonstrated that he wasn't cut out for high major play. Henderson is plenty athletic and really long. He can at least be a better rim protector and dunk finisher than Marfo was capable of being against SEC competition.

Quick scan of Hogville, their posters generally seemed to like Henderson. Said he had 'a lot of dog in him' and 'played hard', just didn't have much of an offensive game.

My impression from reading their boards is an athletic high energy scrapper type with a bench role, will be a definite plus on defense, very reliable defender, but mostly a non-threat on offense other than put backs and such.

This is pretty accurate. He can't shoot at all but he's very athletic, was highly rated coming out of high school and plays hard. He actually played well in spurts with some dunks, rebounds and blocks in the time he was in there this year but he's just too limited offensively to have a big role. He's also pretty skinny so he can get pushed around by wide bodies in the paint. But he's exciting to watch sometimes because he'll have moments where he gets an emphatic rejection on one end and then a violent throwdown on the other.

Was this a combo deal? Are we getting Sills too?

I totally understand. But you did post a bit back that you wouldn't have been upset if they landed Cork, cause at least he'd be better then an ok Aku.

As I said in an earlier post, I can understand the staff's reasoning choosing Henderson over a Cork.

I like Cork better. He's got some weight to battle inside. He looks like he might have at least a couple of post moves.

So we are happy a guy playing on a team that made the elite 8 in our conference that averaged 6 mins a game and 1.2 points is coming to us??
While I hope he is an upgrade over Marfo which didn't work out it seems that this move is currently better for Arkansas then us by freeing them up a scholarship and we losing one for a player that couldn't get many minutes in a team from our own conference

I'm not sure anyone is happy about it, but you're looking at it the wrong way if you're worried about what it means for Arkansas. They're several levels better than us right now so who cares.

All that matters is if he can help us get better. I'm not sure if he can or not, but that's the only question.
