Some quotes from Langston Wilson. He's been talking to Tech and likes them. I like this kid not just as a player. Like that's he's like I don't think I'm going to do this social media post about the schools I've narrowed it down to, I'm just going to let the schools know. No clue if we have a shot here

"As far as timeframe wise I don't have a set one. The only set date I have is I want to move in and have my decision made before summer school. I don't plan on missing any summer sessions at whatever school I do choose. So that's probably the big thing for me.

I feel as though I'll have a set list of schools I'll move forward with, but I don't think I'll be public about it and do the whole social media thing. I think I might just inform those schools and let those schools know specifically and just go from there."

A&M was in the mix the first time and at one point we were thought to be near the top of his list.

Or maybe not (unless we are in the field of "others").

Harmon chose Oregon.

Kaluma would be best long term pickup. Assuming he doesn't leave after one year

And that's going to be the biggest balancing act for coaches. Yeah, there are more short term fixes in the portal, but you will need a core of players that develop and provide continuity and experience.

But you also want scholarships available for 2022 class (even before you get to next year's portal season).

As much chaos as there is with transfer portal stuff in this new era of roster building, I wonder if it is realistic any more to think (hope) much longer than a 2-year horizon with any given player. And fans have zero patience for 'build ups'.

Why would anyone worry about having scholarships available for next yea's class when the average number of transfers per team per year was already at 3 players before this year and now it is way over that. And as we've learned Buzz is no different than any other coach in that he's going to have transfers just like everyone else.

It makes planning difficult. Having no for sure scholarships makes it even tougher than it already is. I don't think you want 90% of your roster being freshman and sophomores. So that's why I could see them grabbing a one year guy. Help for one season and that scholarship is free for the following year.

Right now there are no for sure scholarships coming free for 2022. Sure there will be attrition. But it's easier if you have some seniors each year opening scholarships for incoming freshman and then handle any of your attrition via the portal.

I feel like having enough scholarships available is a problem a lot of people always worry about and it never really becomes an issue.

We aren't missing out on guys because available schollys.

I don't think it's somebody we have ever worried about. Because we have always had seniors and always knew we had at a minimum of X. This might be first time we've ever had X amount for sure available. Our roster is in a really odd place currently and loaded (meaning qtys) with freshmen and sophomores next year. But I imagine we sign at least one senior and we might not even have a full 13 scholarships on roster next year. So I bet come July we will have probably like 2 for sure available. Then you know we will have attrition as well.

Good article. Newsworthy IMO:

On Miller's departure:
Quote:

"What a great job he did for us I love who he is and love his future and will miss the kid as much as I'll miss the player," Williams said. "He just wanted a clean start, a clean slate somewhere else. I don't think it was necessarily that things went wrong or that he had a bad experience here. We wish him the best."

On recruiting TX:

Quote:

"We signed arguably the two best guards in the state," he said of 2021 Dallas-area recruits Manny Obaseki, a five-star prospect, and Wade Taylor, a four-star signee.
Quote:

"I do want to sign Texas guys I want to sign Texas guys who are going to be successful, who fit at Texas A&M and are what we want to be about academically and on the floor. The priority of recruiting this state is important, as long as it fits what we're trying to accomplish."

Somebody console Hop. I did think he was interesting name. Looked like he might be on the verge of a breakout. Will be curious to see how he does next year.

Yeah, I never got the feeling the staff prioritized him after the first zoom, but who knows.

Miller and Robinson announced their transfers a few days after Warren committed to Memphis. I wonder it that helps (or hurts) our chances.

We probably didnt even want Disu. So many studs with aggie parents entering the portal every day. We're just being extremely selective.

Interesting. I guess Golding has nothing to lose allowing them to continue practicing with the team.

People in El Paso are very excited to have coach Golding. Hopefully he can keep one of the two and they can have a pretty good CUSA team. The returning players are actively recruiting Bryson to stay and make a run at the tournament with a good coach. They had the talent the last two years, but Terry blew it. Utep fans celebrated when he left. He's a great recruiter though.

No, he mentioned his family was A&M fan but he grew up as a longhorn fan and even attended a Mack Brown football camp. The longhorns were his dream school.

Hop I think we still have three or four spots to fill. What is taking so long? I see schools adding players every day. I hope he can fill the spots. if not he has a problem.

We've added two transfers and one JUCO commit in the past two weeks. Still have work to do but they're clearly working to get some commits and have already done so with varying degrees of success

3 spots for next season's roster currently available. They need IMO a good PF type pickup who can contribute some solid minutes immediately to try to mitigate at least partially the Miller loss. The other two spots, if there are some good young guys who you might develop then great. But they don't have to fill all those spots. Your typical roster in a season is only going to go about 9 maybe 10 deep anyways. And they about got that, but I think they need that one more Big.

Texas A&M: "I talked to every coach on the staff so far, especially Buzz Williams. They are looking to turn the program around and feel I could be one of the players to potentially help them do that. With the school being my dad's alma mater it is definitely interesting."

Thanks for clarifying! My bad. I read an orangeblood article where they just include a quote where they mentioned their family was a&m fans.
