One of the biggest names to enter the portal so we probably have no shot. Probably will end up at Arkansas, LSU, Alabama or Auburn (complete speculation by me).

Yeah, kinda feels like we're done for now...but there's a lot of good ball players still looking for homes. This has been a crazy offseason.

No reason to be done, we should be going after any guys with 1 year of eligibility left that can help this team.

There won't be the same market for grad transfers that there used to be, because anybody can go help another team immediately, not just grad transfers. I'm sure the staff is beating the bushes, but wit the way this transfer situation has turned on its head, I think smaller schools that can promise a starting spot is more attractive than a bigger school with 6-7 transfers already on-board.

"Test NBA waters" so that's written as he will see what they have to say.

That's going to put a real damper on our overall performance in the portal if he goes pro.

Yes he can come back as long as he doesn't accept anything from agents.

Until I hear otherwise, I'm going to assume he will play for us this year.

I think the main significance of this move is going to be that he's looking to go pro after his one year here, which is a bit of a bummer in itself, albeit not nearly as bad as not even getting that year would be.

I don't think it necessarily means he will go pro after next year. It makes sense to test the waters early because he will get the feedback he needs and what areas he needs to work on. Better to get that early in your college days than waiting until later to find that out. I imagine he will go pro when he feels he can be a first rounder (if ever).

If he signed with an agent I think his college career is done, no?

Looks like the rules have changed.

Quote:

Last season the NCAA passed a new rule that allowed players to hire agents that are NCAA Certified, giving them an opportunity to "test the waters" without risking their college eligibility. Out of the hundreds of NBPA Certified Agents, only 24 agents decided to pursue the NCAA certification, many of which do not currently represent an NBA Player. The NCAA rules do allow athletes to seek advice from non-NCAA-certified agents acting as advisers but do not allow those advisers to market athletes to professional teams or provide benefits of any kind.

Curry originally went the JUCO route after he didn't qualify out of high school. He was committed to Miami (Ohio) but decommitted and attended John A. Logan College instead. In his second recruitment after two JUCO seasons he drew offers from Maryland, Ole Miss, Seton Hall and Texas A&M, plus Kansas.

Looch thinks we have one more BIG pickup left for Buzz - around the 25 min mark on his latest ask Liucci segment.

Another big in the portal:

Since he's already transferred once, I don't know if he would need to sit out a year. This is noteworthy because we recruited him pretty hard when he transferred from Nevada; we were one of three schools, along with Kentucky and Arizona, to get a visit before he committed to Arizona. With Miller leaving he is on the move again.

Brown entered the NCAA transfer portal after one season at Nevada and four days after coach Eric Musselman left for Arkansas. Brown visited two other Divison-1 schools, Kentucky and Texas A&M, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Shows what I know. I thought Brown was a P5 player for sure.

Jeff Borzello of ESPN published an article ranking SEC schools by the ability to recruit. We finished in the bottom half of the league, not surprisingly.
Quote:

Texas A&M has a lot going for it. The Aggies have plenty of money and resources, very good facilities and are within a couple of hours of both Houston and Dallas. The state of Texas consistently produces dozens of high-major prospects every single year, and A&M should be able to get its share of that group. On the negative side, A&M not only has to battle national programs for local prospects, but Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech and Houston are all in the mix -- and all have had more recent success than the Aggies.

"The state produces so many great players, it's such a big state, and they have tons of money," one coach said. "They have far more access to recruits than, like, Missouri does."

The Aggies were on the negative side of the aforementioned football vs. basketball school debate, however, in terms of taking advantage of the boost a strong football program can provide.

"They're in a perfect location. But they're one of those schools, no matter how good or bad football is, football is going to reign supreme. A win against a top-15 team in SEC play is going to get overshadowed by signing day," one coach said. "Also, you're in a good location with big cities around you, but College Station as a city, there's nothing there. College Station and Starkville are probably your two worst cities in the league."

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. They've either never been to College Station, or haven't been since like 1975.

Starkville has around 23,000 people, B/CS has almost 200,000.

I think it's fair where he has A&M. But that's why we pay good money for a coach, because it's not going to be easy. And it's not a surprise to Buzz, he knows where we stand and knew when he took the job.
