Ohams makes no sense if you are building a team. He has already been at Fordham 5 years. In years 2 and 4, he had season ending injuries. In year 5, he played 1 game.

Given the state of our rebuild, it seems like we would be recruiting guys that are planning a multi-year career at A&M or that you reasonably expect to be on the court a lot and serious difference makers in their one and only year at A&M.

I have seen recruits list schools in their 'final something' even if no commitable offer, so just because that kid listed A&M does not necessarily mean A&M would take him.

Is it me or is "Texas A&M" coming off as rather ****ty by contacting anyone and everyone? Especially when listed with schools like Fordham and Western Kentucky...seems too desperate for players.

Just to clarify, he doesn't make 3 times what Kennedy did. He doesn't even make double what Kennedy did. Kennedy was 2.4. Buzz was hired at 3.8 and next year will be at 4.0 as he goes up .1 after each season. I know that's not the point of your post, but i know how this board gets and it will start being used on every thread that he's making 3 times Kennedy.

Ok. Just watched his film. This dude is catching alley oops and getting tip dunks. He did a euro. He excites me way more than Aku who can't make a layup under the basket.

While I'm not happy about the current state of the program, and think that Buzz does deserve a fair share of the blame, he did come in during the weirdest period in history. He deserves a bit more time to figure stuff out, but the "what gives" clock is certain ticking.

You're right, it wasn't the point of my post. But once you add in assistant salaries, potential buyouts, and all other resources, the price gets a lot closer to triple than you may think.

But for almost 4 million, it's hard to swallow that A&M could be so desperate for players that we are recruiting one bid league guys, and recruiting against schools like Fordham in the process.

Nothing, as this is it until it proves to work (or not work). I'm confident Buzz will compete for a tournament bid next year but maybe I need to manage my expectations...

Baylor has a starter (Teague) and another guy (Flagler) that plays over 20 minutes per game that transferred from one-bid leagues.

Can't leave rocks unturned these days.

Peavy would be a huge land. I don't see it happening though. Texas bound likely.

Here is the thing with portal recruiting. It's happening during the tournament. Arkansas had a nice run. Florida played a couple of games. Meanwhile Aggies are sitting at home for last month with 2 SEC wins. It's very fresh on everyone's minds unlike when recruiting a kid in August. It's going to be a tough sell, but that's why he makes the big bucks.

And then a kid like Umude who has one year to play why would a guy like that choose A&M when you can choose a team like Kansas or Arkansas who made the tournament last year and likely will make the tournament next year. You have one year, you better make it count. He would be a very nice pickup, just not expecting that to happen.

It doesn't. Sadly it doesn't as with portal recruiting that means you offered 2 hours before somebody else not 6 months before anyone else.
