Miller's in Belton has been doing takeout since day one of the craziness. They seem to keep a pretty brisk throughput every time I go by there

Pinkerton's glazed ribs go hard in the paint. Absolute money the two times I've gone this month.
Pinkerton's San Antonio location is set to open "soon."
Quote:

Located next to the Frost Tower, Pinkerton's takes up an entire city block with tons of green space. The nearly 7,000-square-foot, newly constructed restaurant and bar is Pinkerton's vision from the ground up, with an interior that resembles a hunting lodge.

"I have looked at San Antonio as an awesome opportunity for years," Pinkerton, the owner and pitmaster, said. "I want the people that visit San Antonio to have access to what will truly be an authentic Texas barbecue experience. And I want the locals to have barbecue that is worth their time to come downtown."

Pinkerton is going big. He said the bar program, which will feature craft cocktails and has room for 12 beverages on tap and many canned and bottled options, will be as much of a player as the smoked meats. The property has a large bar and TV's are scattered throughout the property both indoors and outdoors, and there is plenty of room for kids to roam in the adjoining green space.

Yes they are and it is every four years so no there wasn't supposed to be a list in 2021. Should come out May - June. I can't wait. Somehow even more competition than last time.

Most of my bbq these days has been from the new Rudy's on Lake Conroe.

HOWEVER the new Killens in The Woodlands just opened. So I shall be partaking soon.

Anybody want to speculate on this year's new list? Or should that just be a new thread?

I live in the B/CS area and think we have two changes to the list in our area. 1) 1775 pit bbq makes it and 2) Fargos doesnt.

1775 has been fantastic every time I've gone and is head and shoulders above everyone else in town, and unfortunately Fargos hasnt really impressed me the last few times I've gone. I think is the clich problem of they chased quantity instead of quality as they moved to their third place now a few years ago and it just hasnt been as good as it used to be.

Havent had it yet, but Burnt Bean Co down in Seguin looks fantastic from all the pictures i've seen and reports I've read, and their owner/main pitmaster has been on several food competition shows and won some awards. They do some really interesting things for sides and other items, so its not just about the brisket, ribs, and sausage. I'm thinking they have a good shot of making the list as well.

DFW and Houston will have a larger share of the top 50 than each ever has before. And Austin will go down. Those are my initial predictions.

Sadly with the events of the last year I haven't gotten around as much to eat BBQ, but looking forward to picking it back up this year.

As the OP, someone should start a new thread when the new list comes out. It's due this summer, right?

Have not but have heard great things about it from people that know their stuff. If I was ever down that direction I would hit them up AFTER Pustka Family BBQ.

It's fine. Wasn't super impressed. Only have been once though so could have been an off day. We drive through Rockdale at least 25 times a year so I'll give them another shot at some point.

You need to try it again! Super consistent.

For transparency... I helped open the place but have no interest today.

LJs was fantastic the 3x I stopped by. I just don't run through Brenham much anymore. The pulled pork there is the best I've had here in Texas.

I'm sure they will, they've received a lot of love from everyone, although the couple times I've been, it wasn't anything special.

I've only been to their pop ups. Haven't had a chance since they opened officially. The pop up stuff was creative and REALLY good. Disappointed in myself for not making it down there.

Speaking of Blood Bros, opening a sandwich shop pretty close to my house.

https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/04-06-21-luloos-pantry-new-sandwich-shop-bodega-blood-bros-bbq-stomping-grounds-garden-oaks/?fbclid=IwAR25r5JUrdIA6qC0-9O-GVc21pmr726cmRkIWcazr3qIkCZ8yvE34ns3ZU8

As far as their main store, everything I've had has been good, just not THAT good, not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. They do get points for doing other stuff, like the brisket fried rice, not just the standard brisket, ribs, sausage that everyone does.

Let's do this.

Unfortunately I just don't travel within our state enough anymore to keep up on these beyond what's tweeted about or I see on IG.

Looking forward to seeing what they put together.

I was thinking about trying Burnt Bean this Friday. Do you know how long I should expect the line to be when the doors open at 11:00?

Couldn't tell you exactly, but on a Friday would guess 45ish minutes? May even be shorter than that since word isn't really out yet. It'll be totally different in 30 days.
