For those that have been to Cattleack before, is the line situation similar to Franklin and Snow's where you basically tailgate while in line, or do people just stand in line?
Just stand in line. They used to give free beer while you waited in line...not sure what they do now.

As of November they would occasionally go down the line with beer and shots.

Decided to stop off in Llano yesterday to see if Coopers was still open. THEY ARE! Now, when you park, there's a sign in front of your parking slot with a parking slot number on it. The sign tells you to call a phone number, tell the person what slot you're in and that you'd like to order. A "carhop" comes out to your vehicle and takes it from there.

Hope everyone is supporting their favorite local place through all of this. I've come to accept we're going to lose some of these great places, and now hoping we don't lose most of them.

What of the top 50 or should be top 50 are staying open??
We have not gone out in a while and would like to get some BBQ and help small businesses sometime next week.

I picked up Cattleack to go last week. It was definitely an off day for them.

I'd go to Cattleack if they were doing call ahead or curbside pickup.

Sorry, but I'm not going in the store to stand in line with other people and wait on the food. Recipe for disaster. I know how compact that line gets.

Wasn't your typical Cattleack line at all. Everyone stood 10' apart, they allowed 1 person inside the building at a time to order. I have pics to prove cause it was the weirdest thing but I am being pretty lazy currently to upload and host.

That's good to know, thanks. What I read on their social media didn't make it seem that way but I may have misread

In Houston, Roegels is close to me and had been open. Russell is a good man and supports A&M with all his heart so if you haven't been by lately, give him a call.

Feges is also doing pickup orders at his future site off Long Point on Saturday's. Chilled and vacuum sealed. He's also a great guy.

Has anyone done Franklin curbside? I'm thinking this might be the easiest way to get their bbq. 3lb minimum per order

Planning to snag a brisket for my birthday this week. Haven't tried to the new system yet. I've done pick up in the past though and it was breeze.

Was surprised to see a BBQ issue of Texas monthly at the checkout line this week. I thumbed through it when the in-laws were here yesterday, but haven't really read it. Can't imagine there's anything new.

Oh, and there's this cringey ad in it.

Don't think of it as $35 per pound, think of it as $1.50 an hour.

A 12lb brisket at Reedfield's was $100 the other day. I was selling fully cooked whole briskets at that price just 2 weeks ago. Considering loss during the cook, I would have to be $30-$40 per pound as well. The good news is those prices should come down some. The bad news is all of those cattle not going to feedlots are getting bigger. Gonna take a lot of time and wood to get those briskets done once they get to market.

Houston BBQ: Roegels or Feges?

Going to get BBQ Friday for the first time since pre-covid. Roegels has been my longtime go-to as I used to live nearby but I've heard good things about Feges and never been. Which would you choose?

I'd lean Feges. I'm a big fan of his. The meats are always killer and his sides are even worth some love.

Both are great but I think Feges could use the business right about now. He's in an office food court and his customer base is non-existent. Roegels has a steady flow (albeit not the way it used to be).

Feges isn't doing sliced meats at the Greenway location and I'm craving the trinity so it's gonna be Roegels.

That's too bad. They've always been solid when I've been. Roegels is hard to beat though.

Pinkerton's glazed ribs go hard in the paint. Absolute money the two times I've gone this month.

My (19 month old) son and I have been doing an #endoftheworldbbqtour2020 after his infant swim lessons this summer. Been to Stiles Switch, Brotherton's Black Iron, Leroy and Lewis, and the mopac Southside Market. All have been incredible. From the ribs at stiles, to the sandwiches at Brotherton's, the brisket at Southside, and incredible beef cheeks at L&L. They should all be top 50. Was shocked to see that Southside Market wasn't top 50 in the '17 list.

Not TX BBQ but figured y'all might be interested in this article. Apparently this is the first legit BBQ spot in SoCal permitted to utilize traditional offset smokers. Most amusing part is that they had to deal with the air quality regulators. As mentioned in the article there's a few outfits around town smoking off site and doing pop ups but they're typically a pain in the ass for me to get to. I did have Moos when they showed up at Monkish brewing right before the lockdown, and, while nothing like the top spots back home, they were really solid and would give a lot of the places on the top 50 a run for their money. Hopefully this spawns a BBQ revolution out here, although at this point I only have a couple years left out here.
ETA: the price of brisket out here would make you blush.

Now if I could only get someone to put some jalapeo cheese sausage kolaches on their menu out here I'd be in business.

Elgin places(Southside and Meyers) are famous for their sausage, not brisket. Maybe they do a better job at these new expanded locations, but their brisket has always been an afterthought.

went to corkscrew on Friday. the line was long and slow moving, but the brisket and sausage sandwich was heavenly.
