Reveille BBQ posted this earlier today. Doesn't sound like it's good news. Damn shame, because they had some fantastic bbq

Reveille will be closed until further notice, and will hopefully provide yall with some big news. Currently we are looking at various options and look forward to sharing our final decision with you at the appropriate time. We thank everyone for their support over the past year and look forward to serving you again very soon. Keep up with any changes via social media. We will continue catering, and participating in various local festivals/events. For any inquires please email us at reveillebbq@gmail.com

That's terrible news

I'm hoping it's just a real estate issue like not getting their lease renewed.

We have a trip to Snows planned in a couple of weeks. What is the current line situation like? What time would you recommend getting there?

I prefer Feges but you can't go wrong with either and it's pretty close in my eyes.

Anyone had LJ's in brenham?

I've been to truth a handful of times. Would be up for trying something different unless it's just way lower tier.

LJ's is absolutely great. The ribs are great, the brisket is pretty good and their jalepeno and cheese sausage is incredible. Their Mac n cheese is life changing, I say that because I'm not a Big Mac fan but it's a must get when I go here. I've had Truth numerous times and I think LJ's is just as good if not better as far as the meat is concerned, Truth has elite sides, but I've eaten at LJ's probably twenty times and never been unhappy or not been miserable the rest of the day. If they don't make the top 50 the next time around the list is a travesty.

if you are on the north side of Houston, I had Southern Q a few weeks back and I thought it was highly enjoyable. it's east-texas style, meaning the ribs and homemade sausage were the stars, but the brisket was better than I was expecting and is better than anything I've had that wasn't on a Texas Monthly list.

it's on Kuykendahl just north of 1960 (and south of cypresswood). If you don't want to mess with corkscrew and the time requirement for a visit, or just want a different flavor profile, then definitely give these guys a try.

I think they have second location closer to 45 but I haven't been there.

I had the three meat plate.

Been a couple of times and it's solid. Not great but better than 95% of BBQ places.

Where in BCS can you find the best BBQ in terms of individual items??

Brisket
Sausage
Ribs
Turkey
Etc ??

I have my own opinion but I am eager to retry some places again before Coopers opens

Had LJ's on saturday. Sausage was ok. Brisket was dry but not bad (needed sauce). Ribs were fantastic. Mac N Cheese amazing as well! For as small as the line was, its a very good choice to go to for good BBQ

Is Feges in the top 50? If not, he should be. I went today for the first time to support a kid who almost gave it all to fight for freedom. I met him years ago and I love his story and I'm glad he is succeeding.

I really enjoyed the ribs. Jalapeo Cheese Sausage was good too.

We got there when they opened Saturday and the line was only about 6-7 people deep.

Bretts on Thursday. They were out of ribs and moist brisket by the time we got there. Had the pulled pork and lean brisket along with pico sausage. Aides were green beans and potato salad along with Mac and cheese to take home for kids.

Disappointing that my main two things were gone already. But I loved the pico sausage and the pulled pork was nice. Lean brisket was better than expected as I prefer moist.
As for the sides I wasn't impressed as much. Green beans said they included pulled pork but none was found and they were below average imo
The potato salad was mayo based binder and a bit heavy on the mayo so not my cup of tea

Will go back and get ribs and moist brisket in the future but the sides help complete a meal and will have to either try different ones or pass on them altogether

If you're in far south Austin area, there's a great new spot in Creedmore. The bbq from Randy Estrada at Estrada's Texas Barbecue was great and a welcome addition to an area of Travis/Hays counties that could use more good bbq options.

For those that have been to Cattleack before, is the line situation similar to Franklin and Snow's where you basically tailgate while in line, or do people just stand in line?
