Interested to see the response. I would have thought the wait in line for 4 hours thing for bbq would have run its course by now.

A few months ago we went and got there about 815 or so. We got our food about 1145.

Went to Blue Moon on OSR east of Bryan today. I'm going to have to give it another try. I saw some trays come out with really good looking moist brisket. Mine wasn't moist. Ribs were good. Sausage was mild. Sides were so so. They have a couple of things that I should have gotten instead of the sides. Cowboy cornbread and something called a bean pot looked great. Talked to the owners and they were really nice. I will give it another try.

Pretty awesome to have (at least that we know of) two thread contributors with joints on the list!

Glad to see the rumors about the list moving to more frequently were false, next one isnt until 2021 as it should be.

Seeing 1775 on the list is a bit of mixed feelings for me. On one hand I'm happy to see them get the recognition they deserve, on the other they will probably have longer lines now. I've been there a couple of times now and have been very pleased with the results. Bonus is that I work within 10 minutes of their trailer.

I've had a gift card since Christmas to LJ's in Brenham that an aunt and uncle gave me that i'll be using this Friday. Hope the lines arent too long after this article. They said they liked it more than Truth, but thats going to be a tall task IMO.....

Stopped at Louie Mueller's last week while swinging through for work. Not their best offering i've had, not bad, but I'm used to a bit better from there. Not looking to start that whole debate again, just a point of reference, I still really like them overall and consider them top 50 worthy in the 10+ times i've been there.

Damn. I think the lines are going to be longer at LeRoy and Lewis now. Very happy to see them at the top.

BCS is a different kind of food town. I really don't think you're going to see lines. Try C&C on Smetena sometime. Only open Saturday and Sunday.

I think people think C&J is good enough.

Glad to see Brick Vault Brewery & BBQ on the list. Definitely worth a stop in Marathon if you're on the way to Big Bend.

I wasn't super impressed with Brick Vault. I thought TM was kind of just filling in the space on the map with the novelty of that pick. Though it amuses me that there are 2 in Big Bend and 0 in East Texas.

You been to the place in Marfa? I'm only ever there during the week, so their weekend hours don't work for me.

I really like BV's jalapeno sausage. Ribs are good too. Not sold on their brisket.

We rarely go to Marfa, so I haven't tried that place yet. Maybe next time we go out there.

Very true. The BCS townies idea of great bbq is a chopped beef sandwich.

Just hit Blood Bros. Brisket, ribs, hot link and the brisket fried rice. All very solid. Get there early, though. They just sold out.

Corpus Christi has a decent Central Texas Style BBQ now. Went and tried Salty Oak BBQ today and very much rivals smolik's (top50) /butter's (top new 25) out in Mathis. I hope they keep up the quality and get some recognition on the next list.

Thanks for posting. I'm a big fan of mathis bbq but have been disappointed by everything in Corpus. I look forward to trying salty oak.

Smoke Sessions BBQ (bout 45 min east of Dallas) is worth a drive if you're in the area. Really great stuff and you can support my second cousin!

I think the new Smoliks is awful. The original does some good stuff. Butter's is king for me in the area.

In Corpus, Hoegemeyers is still my go to (aside from Mike Cotten's just for convenience sake). They're hit or miss, but they are capable of some good stuff.

I really enjoyed Salty Oak's ribs. Their brisket was a mushy, flavorless mess. There was potential. I hope their brisket has taken a step forward. I plan another visit next time I'm home.

Didn't realize you had been there cdub! ... i thought the fatty brisket was good there! The fat was rendered well and it was flavorful. There were a few areas that did seem a little tough- so it's not as tender as most top 50 places I've had (mind you ive never had smoliks but have had butters twice) and I think its probably close to Butter's IMO. The ribs werent super tender but good flavor and was not over peppery like some places I've had.

The BCS townies/NIMBY folks (and I kind of think they are one in the same) think all food should be less than $10 per person walk out the door, with free water. It should be in CS (not Bryan) and it should be easy to get to. Preferably in Tower Point. In addition there should be no lines and perfect service with a 15% tip.

Ate at Lewis BBQ in Charleston today (not eligible for Texas Monthly list obviously-but, he is from El Paso and then Austin and he used to be at Franklin then LA BBQ). Very busy, great set up with craft beer and full bar and a lot of outdoor seating. Had brisket, sausage, slaw, beans, collards and green Chile corn pudding. Special today was beef rib and they looked awesome. Glad to see him doing well in the low country.

Been there a couple times in magnolia in 1488.

Pretty tasty with what I had. Wasn't an alltimer but a solid option

I've noticed the True Texas Barbecue is oftentimes in barbecue deserts. I've had it a couple of times in Pleasanton and it was instantly the best bbq in town.

Stopped at Reveille on sunday. I liked the sausage better than the brisket. The brisket was nice and moist but it didn't have a smokey flavor. I had the jalepeno sausage. Potato salad was good. I would give it another try.

Reveillie was great when I went there last week. Ribs were excellent. Brisket was great, but a little too peppery for me. Smoked cheese grits were awesome! The taco sausage was different for a BBQ joint, but still very good. Definitely worth the trip!

Found it! Worst BBQ place ever. Inmans ranch house bbq in marble falls. I'm surprised there's not a line around the block so folks can experience this place. The hundreds of flies probably liked the food. On the positive side the restroom is unisex and is welcome to the many gendered serial killers out there. Now if you will excuse me I'm going to McDonald's to wash the taste of sadness out of my mouth.

Normally not awful, in fact some thursdays while school is in session the line actually dies out at 12:20-12:30 only to pick back up again during the second half of lunch rush hour.
