They've got a system... There will be a Top 50... And highlights for other categories like best brisket, sausage, etc.... Good thing... Craft TX BBQ is gaining ground!

Currently at Cranky Franks in Fredericksburg. Hands down some of the best brisket I've had.

Much better than backwoods bbq's brisket that I had last night.

made it out to Truth in Houston.

The pros: the brisket flavor was very, very good. The brisket texture was really good, but not exceptional. The tater tot casserole was really good. Really nice building for a BBQ place too.

The cons: could have just been a bad day but the Pork ribs and sausage were both really average(for craft BBQ). The macaroni(not pictured) was too rich..and I love rich mac. but theres was too much. almost kinda pasty.

One thing I will say though is I didnt order pulled pork but saw it on other peoples plates and it was some of the best looking pulled pork I have ever seen.

Was in Old Town Spring today running errands so I decided to hit Corkscrew around 1 pm. Hardly any line at that time and likely because of the weather. Only waited 5 minutes and they weren't out of anything. The sliced brisket was outstanding the pork rib was falling off the bone and very tasty. Could see the red pepper flakes from the mop sauce. Continue to believe it's the best BBQ joint in Houston..

Corkscrew is the best in Houston for sure. I have never eaten better brisket.

their cobbler is also phenomenal.

All the meat at Corkscrew tastes the same: like smoke. No taste difference between the pulled pork or brisket. Maybe they've improved since the last time I went back in 2017. But, I was not impressed with their initial impression.

Categorically disagree

Disagree all you want. Like I said, maybe they've improved their product or maybe I caught them on an off day.

Are you sure you didn't go to their old location and accidentally walk into Pitmasters?

I've been going to Corkscrew since near Day 1 and have never heard a claim that their meats are indistinguishable. Even as they've scaled, they've been one of the most consistent barbecue spots that I know of. And yeah, there's gonna be smoke on their smoked meats.

You confound me, but it might be a preference. Just curious what are your favorite spots in Houston?

Standing in line at Truth in Houston. Never been to their original location so I'm eager to compare it to others in H-Town

Good, and they'll do really well here, but it's just not as special as the Brenham location.

Made an attempt at Blood Brother's today but they ran out of about everything while we were waiting. Owner came by and warned us at least.

that sucks but once some of the excitement wears off there is going to be a nice selection of places spread out around the city.

Truth yesterday was a good experience. I was kind of torn in my experience because I felt like I was getting high quality BBQ, which was being served by a very attentive and engaged staff. It's just that the flavor wasn't exactly to my preference.

We tried the brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, turkey and garlic sausage, along with potato salad and ranch beans. I thought everything was good, but I personally wouldn't rate either of the meats first place compared to other spots in H-Town. One thing that was unique compared to other places was the sauces that they provided. At the same time, I can see how others could find Truth to be the top depending on their palate.

For reference, here are my favorites:

Brisket - Pit Room
Pork Ribs - Killens
Pulled Pork - Corkscrew

Heim in Ft. Worth today. Brisket had a really nice mouth feel. Buttery. Tender. But it was lacking in bark. Same for the ribs. A little sweet and wet for my taste in spares, and lacking salt and pepper in the rub. Both the black pepper and jalepeno cheese sausages had great snap and good flavor. Star was the bacon bunrt ends. While a little sweet, they had the pepper and saltiness that were missing on the brisket.

The twice baked potato salad was creamy and tasty. The green chili mac had a nice bit of smoke and a hint of pepper that was a nice addition. Red cabbage and carrot slaw was ok, but a little flat.

All in all, a solid option.

Had truth Houston last Wednesday and if I've ever had a better bbq meal I don't remember it. My skepticism was completely erased. Unreal how good that meal was.

Yeah lately it hasn't been as good as it was when it opened, but last week when I went it was ridiculously good.

Last day for Flores BBQ to be open before moving to FW. Good luck to them up there. Sounds like they got an offer that couldn't be refused.

I was at Super Beef Sunday at St. Arnold's. First time to attend and it was a pretty good event. I thought Eddie O's had the best dishes. Their brisket flautas were delicious. I liked Mueller's sausage and their sauce. Their beef ribs were decent...not spectacular. Eaker's brisket and ribs were pretty good. As for St. Arnold's, I enjoyed their Lawnmower and Santo beers. As crazy as this sounds, St. Arnold's root beer is spectacular!
