You're right... That's a plate price. So probably 1/3#. On the "to go" menu they have brisket at $32.95/lb...

That's nuts. Snows a month ago was $17.95

Snows also isn't serving prime brisket. But even still, $32.95/lb. is insane.

I almost stopped in tonight for dinner but glad I didn't. No way I'll ever pay that for bbq. Then I read their website and they have this up top:

~Think Texans have perfected BBQ - well, think again. We are taking BBQ to another level. ~

Yeah to hell with that nonsense.

They follow with this:

"If you are searching for the same old worn out barbecue joint, then look elsewhere."

Yeah guys...I'll damn well go elsewhere.

meh, it's a pappas outfit, gotta expect high prices. doubt very seriously it's worth the price of admission. the brisket certainly doesn't look like anything special on the website, sausage and fried chicken does look intriguing however

From my perspective, Delta Blues isn't in the same classification as the BBQ joints that this thread is mostly about. I think they are kind of like Killen's STQ, or a restaurant that offers BBQ items on the menu with other stuff, in more of a fine dining setting.

We went there for my parents anniversary, and the family meal option worked out great for the eight of us. The food was good and the service was amazing. But if I was just thinking BBQ joint they wouldn't come to mind.

And people pay that?!
Apparently so. I'm stunned.

So I'm going to be in DC area next week, staying in Old Town Alexandria on King St. will be metroing so won't have a car but I just saw there's a myron mixon restaurant within walking/uber distance of my hotel. Anyone know anything about it? Assuming I should skip it and find something else but figured I'd ask here, just in case.

Several of us had this conversation in June while we were sweating our asses off to raise funds for the families in Santa Fe... We came to the same conclusion... Also, the $5 difference in the brisket plate from lunch to dinner could not be explained or rationalized...

Went to Reveille today for the first time. Brisket is great and a close second to Truth's (my personal favorite) but everything else (ribs, Turkey, pork belly, sides) was next tier.

Whitfields pretty close to my office. Haven't had a chance to go myself but some of co workers went said was pretty good. Also fair warning Kasey Studdard tu football is a co owner and likes it when Aggies wear Maroon

Also J. Leonardi's off 11th street is very good if you get a chance on your South Austin tour. I've ate there and it's good. The co-workers who have ate at Whitfield's and J. Leonardi's say that J. Leonardi's is better. I plan to try Whitfield's next week.

I'll be wearing a BBQ shirt of some kind... Most like Truth...

Cedric Griffin (also sip) owns J Leonardi's. Had a review from John Brotherton the other day, said it wasn't very good at all. And looking at his pics, I would tend to agree. Did not look appetizing at all...

Have you been to Terry Blacks before? If not, stop by there too, they are in south Austin as well and only 10 minutes away from Kerlin. Great bbq and you can get it anytime of the day, doesn't have to be lunch time, I ate there at 3:30 and it was still great.

Yea we go all the time since the line isn't a long wait.

It's been since May since I was there and that day we all went, we got there when they opened so everything was fresh off the pit.

My favorite place to go to South is LA BBQ. Line usually isn't bad if you get there 30 minutes before they open.

I posted it a few pages back. Was when they came out with the all bbq issue that a lot of people thought was a new list.

I looked too and didn't find anything. Seems like a few months ago DV sent out an updated list of some newer top BBQ joints but I couldn't find it searching a few minutes ago.

Supposedly there is a 4,000 SF "Craft BBQ" restaurant coming in to Caprock Crossing in South CS.

I have a hard time believing it'll be any good when they have to pay rent on 4,000 SF of newly built retail, but we'll see. Would be so nice to have an elite bbq place in CS to show off when visiting schools come to town or people go back to visit the University.

Oddly specific "Where is the Best BBQ" question... If I'm willing to drive a max of 30 minutes out of the way, what's the best BBQ between the Memorial Area in Houston and College Station that's open on a Friday night?

No clue on night hours, so I'm gonna say Goode company at 290 and 1960.

Anybody else pickup the new Texas Monthly bbq magazine that just came out this month? Had someone who subscribes give me theirs for free and have been reading through it. Unlike the top 50 list magazine last year that still had other non-bbq related articles in it, this one is 100% bbq and nothing else. One section is just a reprint of the top 50 article but it has several new articles and sections like top sides, top deserts, bbq history, and 10 newcomers most likely to make the next list in 3 years.

10 new and notable joints are:
  • Guess Family BBQ in Waco
  • Black Box BBQ in Georgetown
  • Black Board BBQ in Sisterdale
  • Smoke Session BBQ in Royse City
  • LeRoy & Lewis in Austin
  • Texas Ranch BBQ in Austin
  • Nelson's BBQ in San Antonio
  • Ferris Wheelers Backyard & BBQ in Dallas
  • Brotherton's Black Iron BBQ in Pflugerville
  • Pappas Delta in Webster

Brenham isn't really on the way to College Station from Houston though

My original idea was Truth but they close at 4 ergo the question. Earliest I could leave Houston would be 3, likely 330.

I'm willing to go out of the way a bit if worth it.

He said he was willing to go out of the way for some bbq.

Maybe All the Kong's in Men in Bryan? Haven't been there but I think some guys on here said it was pretty good.

you're right, apparently I just flat ass overlooked that part of the post. There's some folks on here that speak positively of all the kings men, but they certainly are proud of their brisket. I'm planning on trying to hit this up next time I'm down that way as well.

Yep, with Truth not being open later in the day I'd say All the King's Men in downtown Bryan. Far better than Fargos dinner time quality the last couple of times I've had it, if it was lunch I might still favor Fargos but dinner isn't a question. As noted above, a bit on the pricey side but they are your best option quality/taste wise.
