Picked up Milllers in Belton on the way to the ranch yesterday. The moist brisket, ribs, and turkey were all outstanding as always.

Tejas this morning. A bit off their game, but still good. A new brisket & blue link joined the menu (brisket, blue cheese, tomato). We skipped it and tried the new beef link. Solid. Burnt ends & pork ribs won the day.

We were going to hit Tejas this morning but weren't able to get out to that part of the world. Went to Pit Room for lunch just because we hadn't been there in a while and it was pretty good.

Had Roegel's for lunch today and it was pretty good. Not on the same level as Corkscrew or Killen's but close enough to make a trip there worth it. Plus, I showed up at noon and there was no wait at all. So if you're in the area and need to scratch that BBQ itch without having to wait for an hour, it's the place to go.

How early do you go to Tejas?
Thinking of going this Saturday.

16th in Line a little after 10:00. The queue really starts forming shortly after 10:30.

i agree about Roegels. i've had it a couple times and it's good but not quite top tier level.

Had the burnt ends and ribs yesterday at KC Joe's. Burnt ends were pretty solid and the ribs were great. Had some of my son's brisket off of his sandwich and was severely underwhelmed. Not entirely sure why they slice their brisket so thin. I'll still take our Texas BBQ over any KC stuff that I've had.

Usually when it sliced thin is because its too tough to do normal sized slices. Same thing when its too thick its likely do to being too tender.

Yeah, the thin deli sliced brisket is pretty lame. I don't quite understand because KC joes is still a competition team and kcbs requires pencil thin slices much like Most Texas joints serve. One of my big gripes with KC BBQ. Q39 does thick slices but the bark is just wet rub.

Going to start a joint up here and bring some true brisket to KC.

Despite their (Kansas City) boasting about their barbecue, I got the impression on my visits that they didn't know much about good brisket.

Went to the granary today. Tried the pastrami rib, it was great. Brisket was ok. Not a big fan of the beans.

Man, dont y'all go to KC and order the brisket.

Had my 2nd trip to Feges earlier this week. Killing it across the board - all the meats & all the sides were wonderfully executed. It's such a well crafted menu. Lucky suckers at Greenway Plaza.

I will concede that the rib, while good, is the weak link.

Feges is very good.

Oh forgot to mention last time I was in KC I had the beef rib at jack stack which, while good, was overrated and way overpriced. Damn near twice the cost of a beef rib in Texas.

Is Feges pretty easy to get to for us non-greenway folks?

It's a little bit of a pain because you have to park in the garage and then walk over to the food court area, but it's worth it. I had never been in the greenway buildings until I went to try Feges and figured it out pretty quick.

They validate parking as well

Yeah, just park in the C area and it's a very short walk. No problem

I'll be hitting up 2M in the near future. Any must gets aside from the Oaxaca-Serrano sausage and chicharrones macaroni (and obviously brisket)? I've heard they have a solid beef rib, but I'm not sold on going that direction at 2M

they are too new. just opened in April.

He worked at Killen's barbecue but also has a pretty solid background at other highly respected restaurants in Houston. he met his wife who is his partner at the bbq joint while they were both working at Underbelly.

the street corn salad is really good. so are the brussels sprouts. the potato salad is more like a baked potato salad. they have a ton of different sides and all are worth trying. for something really different, try the mashed sweet potato and banana.

I'm my opinion? Absolutely. Patrick has been killing it at other stops and at events for years. Now he's got his name on the sign.

Went to all the kings men today for the first time. Had the candied pork belly and split a brisket sandwich with the old lady as well as a side of gouda mac. 6yo had a mac as well and a link of sausage. Slice of pecan pie to go. Total bill was 56 bucks, was surprised it was that much. Bite of sausage I had was lame, felt bad feeding it to the dog. Gouda mac was okay, but for 4 bucks it was just filler and not worth it. I read they had the best pecan pie, not so much. It was a tiny slice to boot, smaller than a small slice cut in half. Now for the good stuff, the pork belly and brisket. Pork belly was worth it, and something different. Brisket sandwich was incredible. I asked for moist with lots of bark, and they delivered. Really cannot tell you how shocked I was at how good their brisket was! Next time I go, I will only be ordering brisket. Thought the place was way over priced for what you get. Bar setup looked top notch, and service was good. Awesome whisky selection, had to bite my fist and act like an adult since I was with the wife and kid though.

Warning- does have some hipster vibe. Made me number three in my mouth a little. Hopefully that awesome brisket I had was not from craft organic fair trade non gmo free range Austin cattle. BTW, has anyone tried ordering a coors light at hopdoddys?

I've really been looking forward to my next trip to Bryan because of this place. Even moreso now because of the hipster vibe!

Whatchu doin getting a sandwich on your first trip to a bbq place though.

Hipster vibe stuff was my attempt at humor cdub, place is cool and I'm sure you will like it. My fatal mistake was taking the family, I would suggest bringing a couple of buds and ordering enough brisket to put you into a meat coma. Then have a few whisky waters at the bar after. I ordered a brisket sammy bc its America, maybe you can convince them to take it off their menu for all the other real bbq badasses? I live in BCS, so I did not feel the need to order **** loads of meat as this was not a special trip for me.

you do realize they sell individual portions of sliced brisket, and not just huge portions, right?

I dig. I just know I'm into that hipster vibe more than a lot of y'all here and was just playing into that. I guarantee if there's a bourbon barrel strawberry shortcake imperial stout on the beer menu, it's going to be some good bbq.
