I wanted to like something other than the greens, but I just couldn't.

How are the greens?

The greens were tasty. Lots of pork flavor underneath, and plenty of tender stems, which I like.

Ha. I heard your conversation with him while deciding what to order. I'm sure there were more of us there, too. Nice to have so many spots around.

The Greens are my favorite side at Truth, and my favorite greens in Texas BBQ

Well it was a TexAgs holiday at Truth. I got there at 1:30, no line - hasn't run out of anything yet

Got the three meat plate (ribs, pulled pork and sausage) and a 1lb of moist brisket as well. Sides were potato salad, tatertot casserole and cole slaw.

It might have been the best BBQ experience I've ever had - Brisket was perfect, great smoke/flavor - that might have been one of the best spare ribs I've had and I'm a sucker for real good jalepeno/cheese sausage. Great atmosphere- great folks behind the counter - couldn't recommend it more

Going to hit Tejas this coming Saturday, any tips, like what time to get there, etc? I assume they have a line, is there a tailgate atmosphere?

I've never been there on Saturday but drive by it 2 or 3 times a week during the lunch hour and have seldom seen a line. Please post your thoughts after Saturday.

The line at Tejas at 11 on a Saturday is usually fairly significant. Get there by about 10:30 to get one of the "Golden tickets" and save yourself some trouble.

Yeah no new list until 2021. Which is kind of a shame, because even just one year later I think the list would look a lot different.

At the same time, I also understand how much work goes into making the list, so it's not cost effective for TM to do it every year. This list is probably the most well researched and accurate food ranking list of any regional publication in the world, and for that I applaud Texas Monthly. It probably wouldn't be as good if they were putting out a new list every year.

Dont they also do a 50 best hamburger list every so often?

And yeah, alot of effort goes into that list, plus, it probably gets more attention coming out only once every four years than if it was annual.

That's the same top 50 list with a special section on new places to watch. There are also various articles about bbq - some taken from Texas monthly's online articles.

I bought one to have, but it's honestly not anything new unless you don't follow tmbbq

I think this is just a repeat of the Top 50 with a "new bbq" section that has 10 others. Probably just trying to take advantage of the publicity they're getting from BBQ.

We went to Tyler's BBQ in Amarillo this evening with really high hopes. Granted, we went at 5 in the evening, but quite disappointing brisket. The ribs were good, and the sausage (on my wife's tray) was fine. I couldn't even finish the peach cobbler.

Flying into Hobby on the 16th thinking of making it an excuse to go to Killen's. Flight gets in at 11 so puts me at Killens about 1130 or 1145. What kind of line can I expect?

Would yall suggest that or the drive up ot Gatlin's? Same question on line there.

That brisket looks terrible.

It truly was. I drowned it in sauce to get it down, but even then it wasn't flavorful or good. I hope it's just cause we were there at 5:00 on a Tuesday evening. I double checked and it still is in that top 50.

Get there a little early for a ticket to save your spot. I enjoyed a michelada while hanging out in the shade versus standing in line in the sun. The brisket burnt ends and carrot souffle were standouts for me.

I'd suggest pit room or Pinkerton over Gatlin's.

I'd choose Pappas BBQ in the airport over Gatlins

I like Gaitlin's and go there regularly b/c I live close but I wouldn't drive to go there for a special trip. If you did drive that direction I would hit up Pinkerton's or Pit Room as said above.

Hit up Pit Room last week and it was extremely disappointing bbq... the brisket was terrible. Rudy's does brisket better than what we were served. I understand that a place may have a bad day but with so much great bbq available, I won't be back.

Their Pit-master is now in Austin working at Loro.

Married an Aggie and wife is a lawyer in Austin so he moved there it looks like.

Their Brisket has definitely gone down a bit (made a post above about it).

Place is super convenient and has good other offerings so I still go quite a bit, but they need to get their brisket back to where it was. They should hire one of the guys from Pappa Charlies (I assume it isn't back in business, but haven't checked).

They relocated to Cypress and opened a month or two ago.

Heading back to Indiana Friday so had to make a stop at Corkscrew - best brisket I've ever had - great flavor, smoke and moist like butter. Had the pulled pork for the first time and was really good especially with the sauce they offer with it. Really liked the spice on the cole slaw and baked beans as well. Great lunch and even got to see Lyle Lovett come in for some Q as we were leaving
